I've literally got tears rolling down my cheeks after watching this. Forget slavery. Jim Crow was the evil that persists in many people's mentality, whether victim or oppressor.

Reggie was my first baseball hero. As a kid in the 70s, I saw his three HR game in the WS. "That's one, ma!" "That's two!"

Why would Ross Atkins want a baseball player who has more home runs and rbis than the entire blue jays team combined

Seeing Kirby Yates make the all star team makes me think back to the 2021 season, where we paid him like $5 million and he never pitched at all (IIRC).

Did we sign him injured and hope he would come back ... or did he get hurt again? Forget the story, but would have been nice having this 2024 version to end that 2021 season.

I don't believe there was an option year. Another ex-Jay who never pitched for us is an all-star this year: Jeff Hoffman. Hoffman was the Jays first of two first round picks - ninth overall in 2014. He was available that high because he had just had TJ surgery. He was the fish that lured Troy Tulowitski to Toronto along with his terrible contract and questionable dedication to his team. He started eventually for Colorado and Cincinnati, which DFA'd him in 2022, and he next found a home as a reliever for Philadelphia.

Tulo was basically Tank Commander for 2017 and 2018, hardly playing at all, and the Jays still owed him $38 million when they dumped him in December 2018.

For a few weeks of joy in 2015, Tulo just wasn't worth it, and while I am fed up with the current regime, I do accept that Tulo represented an enormous burden and lost opportunity for four seasons. He ate a much bigger percentage of payroll than George Springer. Not AA's best move.

It was worth it solely so that I didn’t have to watch Jose Reyes attempt to play shortstop any longer.

Mariners got tired of waiting. Moved on Randy Arozarena. Market has shrunk for Vladdy now.

We are here forever…

The return for Randy Arozarena is pretty bad. He’s having a down year, but he’s pretty proven

Kuch struggling in the first inning. Astros immediately with a tinge of regret.

Edit: everything good now! Lol

As bad as our 2021 team has regressed to this point in 2024, its insane how much the Chicago White Sox have regressed since 2021 where they went 93-69.

Like the Jays that 2021 team had a good mix of young players, young veterans, and veterans. And somehow it has totally fell apart
(ages in 2021 - Tim Anderson 28, Yoan Moncada 26, Luis Robert 23, Eloy Jimenez 24, Gavin Sheets 25 for hitters.... and Gioloto 26, Crease 25, Rodon 28, Crochet 22, Kopech 25 for Pitchers)

Crazy that 3 years later that team is now 27-87.

IKF would look good on the Jays. Versatile. Good bat.

Competitive in 2025? Ok, Shatkins. Sure thing.

A team with balls. Well done Seattle.

Giants sign Matt Chapman to six-year, $151M contract extension.

A bit of an overpay for a player his age and with a .770 OPS don't ya'll think? Glad we didn't throw that kind of money at him.

“I don’t think I was as comfortable maybe in Toronto the last couple of years as I am here [with San Francisco],” Chapman said. “Sometimes your environment has a lot to do with that, and it’s just a good environment for me. I definitely enjoy playing on the West Coast. And playing for BoMel [Giants’ manager Bob Melvin], I’m comfortable.”

Thanks for singling out Toronto Mr. Chapman! Ya bum. Toronto didn't want you here anyway. Not at that asking price.

I assume someone will write a book on how a team can go from 93-69 in 2021, with a decent amount of young/middle age talent, to 36-117 just 3 years.

2 teams in the AL are gonna get in the playoffs with 85 wins (and almost entirely because they had the White Sox 13 times on their schedule). Just the ultimate failure for the Jays to not even be in contention this year.

Always had a soft spot for Oakland. I liked they the way their teams were managed on and off the field. Economics of that area were in decline for a long time.
