Would he actually take the taxpayers MLE though? I don't know if we can afford him any other way.

I still think they want to give KAT another chance with a more modern offensive coach.

The only other player could be OG. Who seemed to speak out about touches early in the year ect. I don't think he wants to just a 3/D guy.

Og should learn how to dribble before complaining about more touches.

OG will never be a super smooth, quick twitch, explosive type player. Thats simply not who he is. He is also not some hang in the air contested circus shot maker either. However what he does do well :defense, 3 ball, back door cuts/timing, he is pretty elite at.

Yeah I agree I’m just having fun while we wait for something to happen.

In this year’s playoffs his production dropped to 16 ppg, 5 rpg on 27 3P%, 37.9 FG% in four losses. He’s inconsistent. Also look up his regular season game logs. His production is up and down all over the place.

He’s a great positional fit, but if you don’t like Bridges, I don’t think you’ll like him much. I like Bridges and I’d be down with Jackson jr., just don’t expect too much.

In theory depending on how it shakes out , you'd have....

1. Brunson
2. KAT
3. JJJ
4. OG (or Bridges)

As your top 4...

With that firepower, You don't need JJJ to be MJ.

What you want is high efficiency when you have 4 legit 18-20+ pt scorers on team. JJJ last 3 years is near 48% and last year his 3 ball was near 38%. Add in the DPOY level defense and rim protection, he is EXACTLY what this team would need if they are committed to building around KAT and Brunson.

1) You’re not getting him anyway.
2) You could’ve described Bridges and OG exactly the way you described JJJ. Why not keep this core? I get the positional fit, but I don’t see a combo of Towns and JJJ guard the perimeter particularly well either.

I would love the acquisition, but it’s a pipe-dream and we’re good anyway.

The Knicks can’t afford to lose OG’s defense. It has to be one of Mikal or Kat. Neither one fits great.

Not enough depth to make a title push. These teams are flying around in the playoffs and have the depth to do so. We can’t trade Bridges + for him.

Did you work out the math before making that assumption? Lets say its Bridges, Mitch and a couple picks for JJJ.....

MLE probably gets you one of Nance Jr, Trent Jr, Oubre or Simmons

JJJ/KAT/Huk
KAT/JJJ/OG
OG/Hart/MLE
McBride/Hart/MLE/ Wright (vet min)
Brunson/McBride/Wright (vet min)

Extended bench: Kolek, Dadiet, McCullar, 2025 2nd round pick, possibly another vet min

9 deep , 5 on extended bench...I would say that is more than fine ....

In my opinion, we’re better now.

KAT has to be the first guy to go. Our coaching staff and players were frustrated with his defense.

Don’t get me wrong, I like him very much, he and Turner are the two players I’d put next to Towns.

However, I really like what we have and I think OG is in the same tier. I’m also not a fan of breaking up Wingstop anyway. That’s a more valuable thing than folks seem to understand. Horford is my best answer for what we should do in the offseason, but of course I get why guys are losing it over JJJ.

Plus,https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/280801/Grizzlies-Expected-To-Offer-Jaren-Jackson-Jr-$200M+-Extension;-Ja-Morant-Considered-Less-Likely

Turner? He sucks. Have you been watching the finals? He's constantly outmuscled by OKC guys five inches smaller, has hands like Mitch after a fortnite bender and has been iffy shooting 3's (which is his only real skill). No thanks, with a bullet.

Keep Mitch, add Horford or someone from the list I came up with earlier (Capela, Looney, Boucher etc.) and also go after DiVincenzo. That’s my preference anyway.

Getting Turner was never an idea, he is simply an example of a good fit with Towns.

So I'm going to move on from KD, who was on my wishlist. Lets just build with what we got.

Sign & Trade for Luke Kennard with Precious? Is that possible???
Vet Minimum - Al Hoford or Brook Lopez - need a stretch 5.
Vet Minimum - Delon Wright or Landry Shamet
Vet Minimum - Marcus Morris or Larry Nance - stretch 4 and bruiser

Brook Lopez (38% 3pt, 83 FT)
KAT
OG
Mikal
Brunson

Deuce
Mitch
Kennard
Josh Hart
Tyler Kolek

Marcus Morris
Ariel Hokporti
Delon Wright

After watching the entirety of last season and the playoff run to the ECF, I think we can all agree that Karl-Anthony Towns does not have to be the first guy to go smh… quite the contrary, actually we don’t have to do anything at all and we’ll still be among the very favorites in the East next year.

Don’t really love the idea of trading either wing for another forward/center. The team needs another guy that can create off the dribble. If you lose Mikal, it makes our offense even more Brunson centric and I don’t really trust OG to create a shot in an important moment of a game. If you keep Mikal then neither of him or OG are happy with their roles on offense. Not an easy spot to be in right now for the front office.

The idea of Luke Kennard is better than the player. Dude always finds himself outside of rotations while being one of the best shooters in the league. I’d rather try to poach Sam Merrill from Cleveland.

i think with a proper coach the offense would be fine if we utilize more back door cuts and off ball actions. og is an amazing cutter yet we never really used it to our advantage under thibs

Kennard is ok. He's like Vanilla THJr.

He'd be ok as a starter or 6th man, but at what cost, both in salary (cap implications) and if it needs to be a trade.

For instance, not sure I'd trade Hart for him, and I don't particularly like Hart as a starter.

The team we have right now is very very good. However the spectre of A 30 game a year Mitch does not make us better though. Risk is too great. JJJ is also DPOY level defense and rim protection including a 38% 3 ball.

I think back door cuts and off ball actions - for OG and others - would have made our offense a whole lot harder to defend. A big reason I'm looking forward to a new coach. I think certainly OG would be good at this, but why not Mikal and the other starters? What about the kids? No need to trade if better coaching could make us better.

Original THJr, at a fraction of his current salary, and coming off the bench, wouldn't be that bad. But that's never going to happen for his reasons and ours.
