Whose pretending? Vlad has been been pretty disappointing in my opinion. He rarely ever gets big hits when we really need them. This is hardly a new narrative... Juxtapose that against Kirk, Bo, Springer, hell, even Clement and Lukes and Barger probably have come up clutch more than Vlad has and the list doesn't end there.

I'm not above trashing a guy... But were first place in the AL and EVERY SINGLE POST of yours is whiny complaining BS and it's absolutely nauseating. It's not funny if its a shtick, and if it isn't, you must just be the most miserable person on the face of the earth. You hate everyone and everybody on this team, including the coaches and management, sans Kirk and Varsho. Maybe you should find a new team and leave the rest of us to actually enjoy this amazing season. Sure, we may lose in the end, we can all see the flaws on this team, and I know you're just chomping at the bit to go AHA, Told you! That's the only thing that will make you happy isn't it? Just thought I’d add, what was the reason behind going to fisher for the second inning vs yariel? Because for all the **** Schneider gets around these parts, it obviously ended up being the right decision. But I’m wondering what the logic was?

Amazing game by Yesavage. I'm a bit worried how his stuff will play next season, when MLB batters have had an opportunity to gameplan against him and program him into a pitching machine, but that's a worry for next season.

I think part of what makes him effective is his delivery. Is that something you can program into a machine?

I thought I'd heard that they have machines now that can mimic the movement and delivery of pitchers, but I may have misunderstood.

He's got great, and tricky, stuff. I'm really hopeful that it will keep playing out. But I've also seen pitchers who relied on unusual arm angles and what can happen when they get figured out by the best hitters in the world.

The stuff is still really good, the high 3/4 delivery just adds extra deception which makes it that much tougher to hit. Maybe more of a concern if he was a guy throwing 90 without the nasty secondary stuff he has. Only thing that might really hold him back is the fastball command. If he's able to control that pitch, he's not going to be hittable. You are pairing a 94-95 mph 4 seamer with 99% percentile vertical rise with a 84 mph splitter/ 87 mph slider also in the 99th percentile in vertical drop. As a hitter, with that type of movement both up and down, even the pitches left over the plate become more difficult to hit because you're anticipating either the rising effect on the fastball or the massive drop in the off speed stuff.

That seemed like a gut feeling decision. Fisher looked very poised in the 10th, and the 11th was a pressure situation from the get go, with Chandler Simpson, of all people, on second.

Vlad has a 147 wRC+ this year (#7 in baseball) and has a 156 wRC+ in high leverage this year. So not only are you mischaracterizing his performance (particularly in the clutch), you’re just plain wrong about his season. And if you’re disappointed in his production this year and think he should be some kind of Judge level power hitter, you’ve overrated him to begin with. The guy has never been that.

I also enjoy the irony of you trying to gatekeep my fandom while simultaneously partaking in exactly the same behaviour with whoever you deem deserves it (i.e. Vlad). My criticisms may not be for everyone but at least I own it and remain consistent in my views about players/management instead of engaging in this kind of hypocritical sniping at others.

Also Fisher’s strikeouts are great for the Manfred runner format. Yariel might have gotten those outs but there’s a much better chance of balls in play with him.

I trash and praise those who deserve with equal opportunity just as I do every other season. Their current record doesn’t change that, nor should it. If this FO is going to send down their best RP for no reason at all for 15 days, yeah I’m probably going to point out how stupid that is regardless of whether they’re in first place. If they make a good trade that increases their chances (such as the one for Shane Bieber), I’m also going to recognize that.

Those hitters weren’t recognizing that pitch out of his hand whatsoever and I think the unusual arm angle/release point has a lot to do with it. I think Fisher similarly benefits from that effect.

Call me crazy but I think Gimenez needs to start at SS when the playoffs come around. That was a huge defensive play when the game was 1-1 in the 8th. Bo doesn't make that play, I don't think. Bo can DH. Have Clement play 2B. Barger can field 3B. Who's with me on this?

His arm angle is fine. Its probably easier on his arm tbh. That splitter is devastating. Combined with that elite spinning 4 seamer, and you can see why he has dominated basically everywhere.

Also, with Bo having a knee injury this late, I could totally see him coming back as the DH if he isnt out the rest if the season. Which is sadly totally possible this late in the year. and without a long term deal I doubt he pushes it before he is 100%. He is going to make crazy money this offseason after the year/career he’s had. AAA games are almost over too, so coming back in the playoffs would be tough too if they are able to make a deep run.


I dont think they are going to need him though… Springer is having a great season as the primary DH and lead off man. He should not be effed with. The. They have an OF of schneider/Varsho/Lukes/Straw and an unbelievable defensive infield of Barger/Gimenez/Clement/Vladdy ….and a pair or great 2 way catchers. That defense is special.

Santander could join France as pinch hitters and playing when guys need days off, but the way Gimenez has looked since returning allows them to just keep this freight train of interchangeable parts moving with Bo on the IL.
