Wondering if somebody could help me find something. There was a quote from a few months ago, I think from Bogut? Or maybe it was someone else from Golden State, San Antonio, or Memphis.

I think it made the RealGM wiretap. Something about only a few teams playing actual team basketball in today's league. Sound familiar to anybody?
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

Thanks. Do you have a link? Not sure if he said much, but I was wondering if he mentioned the teams he had in mind, or if not the # (so we can figure it out).

I can't find it, sorry. I do remember disagreeing with it because his view was that only 1 or 2 teams in the league play team basketball.

I think this is the quote:

There’s not many teams that play team-oriented basketball these days in the NBA. There’s only about five or six. The rest is a lot of isolation-based stuff, and that’s not one of my strengths.

Cool, that's it, thanks a ton!

So who do you guys think the 5 or 6 he's thinking of are?

Spurs
GSW
Blazers
Dallas

I would add to that mix:

Hawks
Raps
Miami (at least up until last season)
Grizzlies
Bulls
Phoenix

Spoiler:
Well I realize I missed the introduction phase by several months, but I figured if Moonbeam can do his I can do mine. I figure I've been around here enough lately that people might actually care who I am.

Born and raised in Chicago, I'll be 22 years old in about 3 weeks. I spent my freshman and sophomore years at Indiana University, but had to duck when I realized paying $50K a year for an undergrad degree wasn't worth it. Loved the atmosphere there, and I wish I could've stayed, but I've got a future to consider, ya know? So I moved back to my hometown, currently going to a cheap state school to finish my degree. I'm double majoring in Chemistry and Psychology and assist in the Psych research lab at my university. Planning to get right into medical school right after I graduate. I've wanted to be a physician at least since I was 10, and the more I've learned about the profession as I grew the more convinced I became. I'm a total science nerd, and I think the human body is totally rad. And I'm really thankful I have the talent to pursue something like this and fulfill my dream.

I'm a pretty shy/reserved guy in my personal life (probably a good trait given my proclivity to research labs and studying), not the type of guy to spend the weekends partying. I'm a big reader, currently working on the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series; other favorites include Freakonomics and anything by Dickens. My all-time favorite show is Community (the GOAT, inarguably. Give it a shot). It's also where the quote in my sig is from. Also love Arrested Development, Lost, and Sunny in Philadelphia.

Started playing basketball in 7th grade, but never really reached my potential in school because I was the tallest guy on the team and thus was shoehorned into playing Center despite my tiny frame and poor footwork. I'm a 6'4" (in shoes) 170 pound white guy, so I had to make my living on the perimeter. These days I play the 2/3, and I specialize in a Goran Dragic type slashing game. Decent shooter, okay playmaker, great foul-drawer, sometimes make the most bone-headed plays you've ever seen. I play pickup and a few tournaments, hoping to get into a rec league over the summer.

I started watching the NBA seriously circa 2005, and naturally the Suns and Mavs became my favorite teams instantly. Dirk is still my favorite player, and I'm making a point to see him play in person before he retires. Grew up watching the Bulls in the mid-90s, I was a very emotional fan for a 3 year old  . I've kind of outgrown my fanhood by now, in a process remarkably similar to what Zach Lowe describes here: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-l ... of-fandom/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I just enjoy watching every team and every player too much to really have an emotional attachment to any particular team. These days I watch ball when I can and spend too much time on RealGM. Maybe I'll consider getting into writing at some point, if it's in the cards.

The most important thing I do, bar far, is my volunteer work. Every summer, winter, and sporadically in between, I work as a counselor at a camp for children with cancer. It's the most rewarding experience I've ever had, and words can't even describe how meaningful this place is to me. It's a place I've met my best friends, a place I've fallen in love, and a place that I've laughed and cried at more than any other. Cancer sounds like a drag, but I assure you that every summer there is the most fun I've ever had in my life. We play sports, go swimming, camp out, and do basically everything under the sun to give these kids an experience they couldn't otherwise have with their medical issues. And the kids there are my biggest inspiration. Here's a video if you want to learn a little more about it (one of my good friends is the narrator at the beginning): http://vimeo.com/113307837" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Jarring change of pace: my screen name is the name of a character on the show 30 Rock. Mostly I chose it because I love the dichotomy of calling someone "doctor", a reverential title, followed by a ridiculous name like "Spaceman". Good stuff.

Awesome story, and even more awesome that you volunteer for children with cancer. I've got huge respect for you.

Definitely chilling at home with my wife and our toddler. I'm sure my wife will force me to have some champagne (I hate alcohol). She's not a drinker really, but she likes to have it on certain occasions like NYE. I went throughout all of 2013 without alcohol, but I've already had some champagne this year, so I can't say the same about 2014. :noway:

Pineapple juice or bust, I say! :P

I don't drink either (at all actually). Likely I'll just stay in, watch hoops and football, and probably forget its New Years Eve as I watch SportsCenter or Gametime, I think thats what I did last year!

I don't like alcoholic beverages either, but during this Christmas I discovered one that I don't dislike, the white wine.

I'm a teetotaler actually, lol. Unusual I know, given I'm a college student, but yeh :P

I've never actually had a drink in my life (random sips here and there, tried a beer on my 19th birthday and spat the damn thing out). Just never wanted to use any form of substance.

Lots of teetotalers here including some young guys. Good thing we have you guys to keep the rest of us at parties levelheaded :).

For those wondering, I myself will be doing what E-Bola is doing and destroying my liver at a house party with some friends. Should be a good one.

Oh I don't even try to keep my friends level headed. I've known them since grade school and controlling their alcohol intake is like stopping the Warriors when Steph and Klay are both on.

Probably going to bail out by 1230, that's when the regurgitation begins. Plus I have a heavy chest day tomorrow so I need some sleep haha.

Seems like everybody else is doing introductions, so I'll join in I suppose. :) Originally from the Tri-State Area, went to school (majored in math, grad work in theoretical stats/management science). Back in NYC now for work (nothing too exciting, some programming and some excel, some writeups). Huge fan of trance music (a bunch of great places in SF  and even in San Jose now), been to Electric Daisy the past few years (just got some new cans, was using HFI-580s but treated myself to the AKG Q701s recently). Been building computers for a few years (need to upgrade my GPUs soon-ish), love fooling around with water cooling (nice custom loop with fans that are loud as hell 8-) ), though I don't really game too much (mostly Football Manager and Civ V, some Skyrim with a ton of mods occasionally). Play a good deal of pickup ball (scrappy defender/rebounder/post player), golf (some nice courses in the area).

Started watching the NBA for 92-93 because of the Shaq hype (in my first basketball camp the summer after he was drafted, my team had pinstriped jerseys which was pretty cool). First game I went to was actually his MSG debut. Bandwagoned the Lakers when he signed there, have stuck with them since (though when he was traded to Miami, developed a soft spot for them, and Wade in particular). Never got into the Knicks much, but have a ton of respect for what they did. Monstrous defensive teams. I'll pull for both of them if they're not playing the Lakers. Went to a bunch of Dubs games while in college, especially when LA came up (I've only actually seen a couple games in person in LA, though I've seen the Lakers in person a handful of times each when they've played GSW/NYK/BRK over the years). Been pulling for the Clippers more than Warriors with the Lakers down (I know most go the other way, guess not having that LA connection makes it easier for me to pull for the other team in town). Hoping we can get a solid draft pick this year, and have better luck in free agency in 2015 and 2016. :D
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

Had semi-crazy 10+ hour day at work (at least the last 6 hours were crazy). Pretty well spent by the time I got home; wifey and son are still gone (at kid-friendly NY Eve party, expected them home by now, hopefully with a nice pulled pork sandwich for daddy :) , which was the entree to be served at the party). Plan to drink beer or two, watch whatever decent movies are on (otherwise pop in some John Wayne, me thinks), and participate in whatever is buzzing on the PC forum. Woot woot!

EDIT: Oh, and happy new year forum peeps! (I doubt I'll make it to midnight, so I'll get it in now).
