Yeah I rewatched it you're right lol.
I remember watching Steve Nash, Jordan, Bird, Ray Allen... none of them would do this on a regular, but Fred thinks it's okay?
The only player I see taking deep stupid 3's on a regular basis is Lillard, and it kills his teams momentum.
Watching the Warriors yesterday, yes, they were not being defended that well, but their role players never seemed to do anything they were not supposed to. Down the stretch if they were open beyond the arc, they got the ball to Curry, Klay or Green. They didn't take their open looks from 3.
With a minute to go and the season on the line for the possibly the best team we have ever had... we have a guy shooting less than 30% for the playoffs taking our 3's?? Completely unacceptable in my opinion.
I wonder how much of it was also poor clock awareness... IIRC he had 7 seconds or something left, maybe he thought he had like 2? Still indefensible.
Another player who let it fly from 3 these playoffs that I felt absolutely killed his teams momentum was Harden. Lowry's transition 3's were of the same kind, but we've seen very little of that these playoffs
It could have been bad clock awareness but I think it’s more likely he knew exactly how much time he had left. There’ve been several other instances of Fred “hero ball” in the last few games. This one was just the most outrageous.
Self confidence has crossed over to self delusion; and Nurse is apparently not putting on the brakes.
