Especially if the scenario was kyrie taking the MLE to do it. Its one thing to trade assets and such even if it is a seemingly one sided deal. Its another for an all star level player in his prime to join a team for peanuts just to contend.

Opting-in was the only thing that really made sense. That's a LOT of money to leave on the table, especially after setting fire to his paycheck last year. Let it ride for one more season to see if they can finally get their sht together, then walk next summer if they can't.

That makes sense. I know Kyrie is crazy, but signing for the Lakers for 6 mil $ didn't make any sense. I don't think he is interested in winning, so if he wants to screw the Nets, he can do it very well from within, and get his 36 mil $. Going for the MLE would not give him any advantage, since the Lakers wouldn't get his Bird rights that way.

Honestly theres no where else to go but up for this team with kyrie/KD, at least for the next season.

Ben covers so much of what was missing for them in the playoffs the past season, which is defense, rebounding, and playmaking. Harris will give them another deadly shooter. Guys like seth and drummond now have time to build chemistry with their teammates. Marks is a good enough GM where I would be confident in his ability to re-tool the bench and role players. The only thing I'm worried about other than health is coaching. Nash has not shown that he is good enough, but narratives can change, just look at JKidd.

People laugh at their failures this season, but they have a squad and imo can contend with anybody.
