Ant has a bad habit of playing even when he isn't recovered properly.

Much better to be a Kawhi Leonard, sit out 50 games a year because he's not quite where he should be.

I'd go with somewhere in-between. Can you believe that neither Kawhi or PG13 has missed a game yet. I think that's the case. Shocking.

Bench Ant for a week to heal. If he needs more time then let him play 5 minutes then bench him. Both sides happy.

He may already be 100% healed. We don't know.

Looked stiff on the 6th, left early on the 8th, unlikely that he is back to normal.

That was a long time ago. Very likely he is back to normal. Very likely he isn't. We don't know.

We know he has a hip pointer. We know we spends a lot of time with the training staff before games. We know they have a shoot around before games. This isn’t a hard mystery to solve. If he says he feels good and is moving normally play him. More likely, if he is tender in the hip, and moving stiff, bench him (regardless of what he wants,) to protect him from himself, and to get him back to 100% faster.

It's not a hard mystery to solve unless Ant lies to the Wolves staff. We actually don't know he has a hip pointer. We know he had one. If he's healed he should play. If he isn't he shouldn't. Not rocket surgery or brain science.

I agree this is a bad habit, but maybe we need him to learn for himself why you don’t play when you’re injured?
Like Towns first few years, you don’t want to dampen a player’s desire to play. But also like Towns, these were young players that we intended on keeping around for a while. Maybe Ant being forced to take himself out of the last game, 3 minutes in, will help him learn to sit himself out to get healthy,

It's a pain tolerance issue. There's not a threat of reinjuring or worsening a hip pointer, to my knowledge.

1. He isn’t playing well in pain.
2. Rest is better for healing quickly.
3. You cannot put your team in a weird spot where they game-plan for having you then you leave right away.

It's been a long time since the injury. It should be fully healed by now. If it's not that's a bit concerning. Hopefully he's 100% now.

Thank you Dr. KG.
A mild hip pointer is generally a 1-2 week recovery. But it can vary from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the severity.
He also may have aggravated it in the last game.
Once a hip pointer is diagnosed, rest is the most important treatment. Avoid strenuous activities that can put a strain on your hip or put you at risk of another impact.

Interesting. I believed Klomp when he posted it was not a type of injury that would get worse by playing. "It's a pain tolerance issue. There's not a threat of reinjuring or worsening a hip pointer, to my knowledge." It's been 2 weeks. My belief that it should be healed by now was based on it being mild to moderate at worst.

Both can be true.
You can aggravate or increase the pain without actually causing any new damage.

I believe you need to play in at least 65 games to qualify for consideration on the All NBA teams which would qualify Ant for the Super Max extension. That's a TON of extra cash...and a much bigger bite of our Team Cap.
It does lead to some concerns about the thought process from both sides regarding decisions being made moving forward.
