I didn’t either because it sounds like an excuse. But the conversation started with Kawhi injury history and the stigma that he doesn’t play through injuries or is injury prone. I think he was more so trying to defend Kawhi by saying after the trade they had more workload on them by having to play offense and defense. And that workload wore on Kawhi.

Yea it is a bit open to interpretation, even with more context like you're mentioning. Overall I don't think he sounded too happy with that Clippers team, but I don't think that he necessarily wants to leave. It's just hard to construct a team around Harden/Kawhi/PG without the latter 2 having to be the defensive leaders. Either way, we should find out in 2 short weeks what to take from all of this.

basketball (and most sports really) is all about roles.

mainly because while it would be great for your best players to be good at everything and do everything...it wears heavy on you. Like Jordan was a good defender but had Pippen to do most of the guarding the best players. He could be a good rebounder too but also had dudes to do that. Bron has played defense ins short spurts for the last 10 or so years lol.

so yeah asking guys especially aging ones to not only carry your offense but also do the grunt work isn't feasible.
that being said, he was also probably butthurt his offer didn;t come in while Kawhii's did and he got hurt again....you can also read that as him simply not being too jazzed they traded for Harden.

That's funny because we got PJ Tucker to do all that stuff and the Clippers wouldn't even play him.

I guess it’s just the star mentality, part of me gets it.

I definitely understand the ease of the PG/LeBron route. Draft at #16, max one of them, sign X PF with the remaining cap space, Oubre with the exception, and sign all the vet mins. Then you still have 4 future 1sts to play with. Very clean.

Yeah, there is some value in trading for Butler into cap space, but the main benefit of cap space is signing a great player without giving up any players or picks. I think we need to sign one of Lebron, PG, or OG.

If the Pascal Siakim trade was Bruce Brown/Nwora & 3 FRP (one protected), then what is Ingram worth?

We have no players to trade but I find it hard to believe that Ingram is worth 3 FRP. Maybe 2 + a swap.

Morey probably wants to see if he can get LeBron, George, or Anunoby for "free" before pursuing Ingram.

What about OG AND Ingram? Can they play together. What a wingspan we would have

Would be amazing but we'd probably be around $10-15 mil short.

Ingram will cost between $36-41 mil (depending on trade kicker). OG will likely start around the same amount. We have roughly $65 mil (assuming #16 and Reed are going out somehow).

I imagine a decision will have to be made by the draft as that first will be part of the discussion for Ingram.

Brandon Ingram is such a goofy fit. I feel as if you're a goofy fit offensively, you better be a beast on the defensive end. Jimmy Butler for instance.

If you're a goofy fit on the offensive end while being a physically weak, slow defender....what are we doing?

May 100% be semantics but I like that they're calling us. I don't like Ingram but if we can get him for a relatively modest price, I can get behind it.

I think Jimmy Butler is a likely Plan B if we can't sign Lebron, PG, or OG into cap space. Probably give up two 1sts and the Heat get tons of cap relief.

It isn't ideal but I don't see Morey trading for Ingram.

The question is not can they play together, it is would they play together. Both of them seem to be injury prone and we could go an entire season without them both being on the court with each other for significant time. Some / a lot of exaggeration on my part BUT it does not mean it's not true.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)
