it's better to win than lose but i don't think i feel great about it. we got contributions from everyone and just squeaked by them. i never expected to lose to them and still don't. but we don't seem to be able to put any real distance against them and hold a lead. detroit is not that good that it should be this hard.

Doesn't that concern you about the system and coach? I know Brunson started slow but like you got contributions from all the starters and we still couldn't pull away from pistons.

And our end of game execution from timeouts to inbounds are just trash.

Yeah of course. Hopefully Kawhi stays healthy. But they also wouldn’t be where they are now without JVG either. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up as a head coach again somewhere.

I hope Clippers get to face OKC in full force. Clips have been maligned (in hindisight deservedly) for that PG13 trade but it would be nice if they have a chance to soften the narrative by beating OKC in a playoff series.

They honestly can beat OKC. Guys like Powell and zubac have taken a massive leap this year so now they have more weapons. On top of that, their defense is top tier. And now you have harden and kawhi turning back the clock? Sheesh. If the Timberwolves aren’t going to the finals, I’m rooting for the clippers to go all the way in the west.

This Clippers roster is insane. If (big if obv..) Kawhi stays healthy, they are definitely a contender. Just a whole bunch of scoring options and versatile defenders.
Denver is pretty much dead at this point. They have the same problem as we do and need to split one of their expensive guys into more pieces.
The Westbrook story is always cute and fun... until he has to make shots in the playoffs.

Denver has one problem - MPJ. He is getting $35,859,950. If you wonder:

same as SGA
more than Tatum
more than D-Mitch
more than Harden

and I am going to leave it right here with the singles. Combined you can afford two of the:

Malik Monk
KCP
Strus
Clarkson
Naz Reid
Norman Powell
Austin Reaves

Oy, I saw that fall in real time and it look dirty to me. Took them minutes to show a replay of it. That fall was insane to me and I don't even like Morant. I stopped watching the game after because you knew that 26 point lead wasn't going to hold up.

They're not that good but they're plucky and it's hard to completely put away plucky teams. They don't have enough firepower to win this series but I figured they'd at least keep every game close. This is like playing one of our teams from the now distant past.

I called him Mid Cunningham for a few years but with where he's gotten to, he'd be a great complement to Brunson. Not that it'll ever happen but they'd be a great fit because you could do a lot of stuff with Brunson off the ball and also put Cade on the best opposing offensive player 1-3.

Honestly, Dort is the only one I'm not mad at.

Admittedly Ja is one of the guys who disgusts me in the league, just from everything he has been involved in. I am going to try to be as objective as I can be.

Culprit 1:
Pippen
Great defensive play, he has STRIDES on Dort. He can feel him coming behind him (pause) and he chickens out, throwing back to Ja. Just from a 'where guys are' POV, Pippen has an open lay up for which he was going to take contact, maybe and-1, Dort is next, trying to contest Pippen, then Morant is behind both as the trailer. It's a bad play, a dangerous play, and a greedy play. Best case Jah puts up a poster. We all saw the worst case.

Culprit 2: Ja

He is behind the play. He can see where everyone is going, where everyone is. Pippen threw him the ball is position to dunk. He SAW Dort under the basket. MAybe he thought that Dort was moving enough where he would be gone? Or was he trying to embarrass and put Dort in a poster? Sadly for him, Dort turned around to follow the ball, got caught up in Ja, and that was that because Dort is built like truck and Ja is a motor cycle. Smart play would have been for Ja to see Dort under the basket and try to avoid the contact, maybe even pulling back on the play because he was given the ball is a poor position.

So yeah, Dort really didn't do anything but exist. He was playing defense, rather than quit on the play, he followed the ball and he protected himself at Ja's expense.
Could he have crumpled like a chair himself and taken the dunk? It's possible, but it's also not his job.

Draymond would have made sure to get in a chop down the middle and possibly grabbed an ankle. Dort was just a really bad speed bump.

If Kawhi wins a championship and another Finals MVP, will he surpass Durant on the all-time list?

Or will "load management" forever be the asterisk on Kawhi's legacy?

I already consider him as having a better peak but he certainly would on mine.

Durant will have had a far better career in terms of counting stats and accolades but in terms of peak performance Kawhi reached a level very few have.

When you’re watching this team perform like it does, do you really think the difference between us competing with the Celtics and OKC is coaching ?

Your targeting like the two top teams in the league...you can't just be like hey we either have the best team in the league or we don't so we shouldn't go for it mentality.

But I look at us vs the teams that should be on our tier and think we are far more talented and wasting it away with mediocre/system coaching.

Wasn’t the whole point of going all in our assets was to be on the same tier as Boston and OKC though? So we have to compare us to those teams. What was the point of going all in just to be arguably worse than last year’s team then?

Why would I ever fight against Straw Men? The machine just caught you out there on front street. I fight smarter, not harder. You're the goat herder in the mountain shooting at my predator drone while I'm in an air-cooled trailer somewhere halfway across the earth.

Brother, I don't meet the demands of terrorists either, imagine coming up with a nasty strawman (AI verified) and then trying to have some fair discussion.
