Would Klay going to LA be enough to make the Lakers a viable contender?

The Ripple Effects of Klay Thompson’s All-NBA Snub

Thompson found out that he didn’t make All-NBA mid-interview with a pack of reporters. Naturally, he was a bit upset:

Read on Twitter

But how this will affect Thompson’s next contract is the part that has implications beyond debates at the barstools. Without the benefit of the supermax, the Warriors’ money advantage over other suitors hoping to raid the champs’ roster has been significantly reduced. Golden State can offer Thompson a contract with one more year than all 29 other teams...but the difference in annual value is negligible—about $3 million. And as we’ve seen recently, a max-level player comfortable with his long-term earning potential will prioritize where he wants to play and with whom over how long his contact is guaranteed.

If Thompson has ever wondered what life would be like as a first option, a third straight All-NBA snub both reminded him of the sacrifices he’s making in individual accolades by being third on the call sheet in Golden State and removed a major financial barrier toward that possible future.

Off the top of my head:

CP3 to Minnesota for Wiggins.

T Wolves get a proven, vet PG to lead their charge. Rockets get young swingman in need of a fresh start.

CP3 to Celtics for Gordon Hayward (and change?)

Celtics get a proven, vet PG to lead their charge alongside Tatum and Jaylen. Rockets get young(er) swing man in need of a fresh start.

Interesting first scenario because Mitchell Wiggins used to play for the Rockets when I was an H town resident. That being said, I think Wolves get better with this deal and Rockets don’t.

Second scenario has Alice teaming up with Cp3 in beantown. I don’t mind this because it really screws up Boston short period and long. Also, Ainge has always been hard for Cp3. Rockets would be doing really well to come away with Tatum or Brown in this scenario.

I’d say trade Cp3 to Lakers for a combination of Ball, Kuzma and Ingram. That would be the Lakers would probably have to make the finals in order for this to be considered a success. Also a third team would need to get involved to match the salaries.

Honestly, I think this is just attention seeking by Morey. "All my picks/players are available ... for the right deal."

Well, isn't that true for every GM?

He'll probably do something like trade Eric Gordon which isn't a monumental thing. If they trade CP or Harden it'll be because they asked for a trade not because it was Morey's idea.

Word around the league is that Capela is the most likely piece to be moved. He is a solid asset and could help recalibrate that Ropckets team.

But I'm not even sure D'Antoni will be returning at this point.

That whole offense seems likely to be revamped.

Yeah it's obvious Capela is the most likely to be moved. Absent something drastic, he's probably the most move-able piece anyways.

And yeah I've also seen the rumblings about 'Antoni's status. Seems reactionary imho. Typical Morey

Morey is having his man period right now. Emotions are flying sky high. He prolly trades Shumpert for a future 2nd.

NBA spoke with Raptors about Drake during ECF

The NBA spoke to the Toronto Raptors during the Eastern Conference finals about Drake's activity and presence on the sideline, a league spokesman told ESPN.

Last year, the NBA warned the rapper, who also is a global ambassador for the Raptors, after a confrontation with then-Cleveland Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins during a playoff series between the Raptors and the Cavs.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver issued a memo earlier this year reminding the league's franchises to state and enforce their fan-conduct policies.

I love Lloyd to death and want him to be our coach forever. Dantoni would have a field day with Trae though as his Nash 2.0. Rockets are slippin.

CP3 to Miami, Orlando or Charlotte could be interesting.

Houston wanting to make the team over and get out of contract problems is amusing. After Chris Paul signed his current contract things seemed to go south.

This always liked the most likely scenario after giving such a huge contract to a player past his prime.

In HOU's defense, they did have the best record and make it back to the Conf Finals (where they almost won) in 2018.

If CP3 hadn't gotten injured in that series, they'd likely be reigning champs right now.

But salary cap hell would have followed almost immediately.

Kawhi Is a Toronto Property Owner

According to Toronto-area radio host Michael Landsberg, Kawhi Leonard has bought a property in Toronto. (Because I’m sure he has free time these days between Finals games to tour real estate.) I don’t know when Kawhi purchased the home—per an earlier report, he’s been considering staying with the franchise even before this playoff run—and I don’t know that it matters, either.

All the tea leaves above suggest that Kawhi is open to returning to the Raptors for at least 2019-2020, if not beyond—a wild turnaround from a couple weeks ago, when the consensus agreed he was a lock to join the Clippers. TrueHoop’s David Thorpe, who originally reported that Kawhi might re-sign, believes that Kawhi will sign a one-to-two-year extension.

I have to imagine we're among the various teams...

NBA Draft 2019 Trade Rumors: Thunder Want to Deal No. 21 Pick for Salary Relief

The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly had conversations with teams about trading the No. 21 overall pick in June's draft for salary relief.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported the Thunder have spoken to "various" teams in the lead-up to the draft.
