It all depends on the asking price. Do they view him as someone they overpaid or as a future star?

The current front office isn't the one that drafted him, so he could be available for cheap. I'd take him in some kind of face-saving salary dump where we give them a couple of relatively worthless draft assets and salary filler. I wouldn't give up any of our top 5 for him.

People expecting Gordon Hayward to be traded by the Feb 6th trade deadline are going to be very, very disappointed.

Last night was a great illustration of why he is so valuable to the Celtics

No doubt Hayward is a Valuable player.
We just don't need him.

What we need, is more talent at the 4 and 5.

I still Propose a Straight Up Hayward for Adams, and they can send us back a pick or two.
Also, I don't see these players on the team next season (if even after the Trade Deadline):

== Wanamaker - Ojeleye - Poirier (Wanamaker being the only one, that we could still use.)

Proposed Post-Trade Rotation:
Kemba - Brown - Tatum - Theis - Adams
Smart - (****) G. Williams - Kanter/R.Williams
**** = [Edwards - Green - Langford]

P.S.:
Smart can slot in, and Brown, Tatum and Theis can all move over 1 position.
It's Very Flexible:

Kemba - Smart - Brown - Tatum - Theis

But Hayward good. Adams not so good. I will never understand why you wanna make this team worse. What likely high value match up is Adams gonna help us with ? He's not some great defender. Never has been. Not that im saying he's bad defensively but his most valuable skills are offensive rebounding, screens and finishing ability. None of those things are things we lack.

On another point, there's a reason the Celtics guaranteed Porier's money for next year. They see something in him and he's probably gonna be here next year. Takes a while for Euro's to contribute, especially young big who haven't had a ton of basketball experience. Remember theis early in his rookie year ?

So what are you thinking, that we just keep all our Bigs?
And go with a 3 or 4 Headed Center?

I could see us trading Kanter or Poirier during the summer maybe for an upgrade somewhere but honestly, i don't see a huge problem with keeping all of them. Poirier is gonna need developing time anyway and won't get minutes while Kanter is here. Williams can use another year earning minutes since he's kinda missing out this year. Im not against getting another big or swapping some of our bigs for others but i am against trading one of our best players for a marginal upgrade at a not important position. I don't see how that can even be a objectionable position.

Grant btw won't play the 5 much for meaningful minutes. I get it, the kid is strong and smart but being 6-6 is just a bit much

Totally apart from his value to us is the fact that you are not getting any sort of value for 30 games of Hayward before he hits unrestricted free agency.

It’s about as big a barrier as Jaylen’s poison pill if we are being real. Just not happening. A total non-starter.

I think it is far more likely Gordon gets sign and traded than anything else. Let him find a place he likes, and we get an asset in return. Everyone walks away feeling good.

I'm open to trading Gordon, but there's nothing available out there that would be of equal value for the guy.

As Hayward demonstrated to Utah and Horford demonstrated to us, even calm, likable players can't be relied on to do their teams any favors in free agency. That said, the one favor I'd expect Hayward to do us is to be -- and to already have been by now -- pretty open about his intentions. I'm not confident he'd show even that small amount of unselfishness, but I think he would.

So if he wants to be elsewhere, a trade now or sign-and-trade later are possibilities.

Otherwise, I agree that he's staying.

Trading Poirer, Wannamaker, Semi and 1 of the late picks for a guy like Bertans or Bjelica I'm ok with as long as we plan on resigning Bertans in the offseason. It leaves 2 spots open this year for two buyouts, adds in a key rotational player for this year and next, and at least one buyout to the rotation this year. Those three are not in next years plans and I don't like giving up late firsts, but for a solid player in the 9 man rotation at a position of need i'm all for it.

Waters and Fall can come in next year with our picks.

I think our rotations lacking at the backup 1 and backup 4-5 will be solved when we are all healthy again.

Right now smart is getting huge mins at the 2-3, and he should be getting a big chunk of mins at the backup 1 instead of wannabricker.

Timelord should be getting big man mins along with Theis, Kanter, And Williams. That will solve Semi/Poirer getting mins. Bertans puts Williams in the G/League this year.

No it doesn't. Williams is a far superior defender who can cover 2 through 5. Bertans puts Carsen Edwards in the G league.
