We needed a point guard not a short shooting guard.

McClung out. Monte Morris in, now that he’s healthy.

This move makes sense as McClung looked more like a 2 guard and wasn’t the point guard depth the Pacers were looking for. Monte Morris is a point guard and will be a better bandaid. Not sure if he’ll be the guy who averaged 5.3 assists with the Wizards a few seasons ago or if he will be the 1.6 assist average guy from the Suns last season ?

Since Quentin Jackson is out I believe Morris will get more minutes very quickly and maybe even starting soon due to his better handles regardless of his recent stats. Carlisle isn’t happy having to play Sheppard at the point when he’s best suited for the 2 guard.

On Jeremiah Robinson-Earl he’s only 25 so age wise he fits our team makeup. After only 3 games in Carlisle is already speaking very highly in his pressers noting he’s a Villanova guy. He started out with OKC and then with the Pelicans where he played 66 games last season. At a 6’9” power forward he’s definitely rebounding well in the little action I’ve seen.

Too early to tell on SF Cody Martin but I don’t see him sticking around as long as Robinson-Earl.

Pacers have played 8 games this season. Unfortunately here’s our 18 player breakdown:

Haliburton has played 0 games this season
McConnell has played 0 games this season
K. Jones has played 0 games this season
Nembhard has played 1 game this season
Wiseman has played 1 game this season
Mathurin has played 2 games this season
Toppin has played 3 games this season
Furphy has played 3 games this season
Q Jackson has played 5 games this season
T. Peter has played 6 games this season

7 players have played all 8 games
R.J. Dennis has played 7 games

3 Roster additions have played 1-3 games

2 players have been waived Wiseman and McClung

I copied this from AI.
The Pacers were granted hardship exceptions due to having at least four players who had missed three or more consecutive games and were expected to remain out for at least two more weeks, including key players like Tyrese Haliburton (season-long absence due to Achilles injury), Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin, and Andrew Nembhard.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was signed to a 10-day hardship contract on November 1, 2025.
Cody Martin was signed to a 10-day hardship contract on November 5, 2025.
Monte Morris is signed to a 1 year non guaranteed standard contract.

My guess is Robinson-Earl will eventually be signed to the roster in Wiseman’s former spot once the need for point guard is better staffed with Nembhard, McConnell, and Q. Jax returning and Morris waived. Just speculation on my part.

I didn’t realise MacLung had been waived. Was wondering why he wasn’t playing…

he was just waived. he was still on the roster for Wednesday's game and the box score says DNP coach's decision. he just turned out to not be enough of a point guard.

Tony East has a great rundown of the hardship exceptions, and injury windows at his new website.
