To dispute ReservoirDawgs on either of those points would be intellectually dishonest. I concur 110%.

Is this a joke? Your politics are completely blinding you if you think they're unbiased. I'm a moderate and I will readily say that Fox News, the opinion page of the WSJ, the Washington Times, and talk radio are conservative, just like..well, everything else is liberal.
I will say, I am always amused that liberals always whine about Fox News being conservative and an example of horrible news reporting yet never bat an eye at any of the other predominantly liberal media that has shown their bias for decades. I really don't see why either side cares that much about biases in news reporting given the amount of options and technology nowadays. If you want conservative bias, watch Fox News, listen to talk radio, read online blogs, read the opinion section of the WSJ, etc. If you want liberal bias, watch/read 90% of media publications, NPR, or online blogs. It's really not that hard to find something that caters to your taste.
So what news sources do you access Mr. Middle of the Road? And are you claiming that Fox News is unbiased? The answer to those questions should expose you for what your are. Is Shaun Insanity a reliable news source? Bill O'Really? Rush "Give me another OxyContin before I kill you" Limbaugh?
Btw, Fox News is not "conservative." The Wall Street Journal is conservative. Let's not confuse the Rupert Murdoch "make up the facts as we go along" tabloid BS for "news."
Finally, you ought to take a could hard look in the mirror (if you can stand it) before you start throwing out barbs like that JO.

Get your head out of your ass. No, most liberals would not agree with that. Most liberals are very frustrated with Obama and have been consistently criticizing him along the way for not going far enough in his agendas and for constantly attempting "bipartisanship" to repugs while they, in return, spit in his hand.
You clearly do not not what the F you are talking about.

The argument goes both ways, sure there are right leaning news outlets but they are far outnumbered by the left. And your mainstream media CBS/ABC/NBC rarely if ever put the president under the microscope for his GROSS INCOMPETENCE in handling the BP Spill, his foreign policy gaffes, his arrogance in ignoring the will of the people on healthcare and once again he seems hellbent on ignoring the American public with regards to immigration. Every major poll done shows more people than not are against amnesty for illegals and this smuck wants to give them all a free pass. Oh and lets not forget his more than doubling the budget deficit that the liberals whipping boy GWB left him.
I only take solace in the fact that he's heading towards a one and done term presidency and I only hope the GOP runs a true conservative against him who can undo all the damage this clown is doing to the country.
Trust but verify.

I have no confidence in the GOP putting forward a worthy candidate. That said, indeed, let's hope Mr. Obama is one and done.

In case you missed it, my post that you quoted says "I'm a moderate and I will readily say that Fox News, the opinion page of the WSJ, the Washington Times, and talk radio are conservative, just like..well, everything else is liberal." So no, I don't think they're unbiased, just like nothing out there is unbiased, or really attempts to do so.
If you must know, I mainly read the links on the Drudge Report, the Huffington Post, USA Today (when I'm at school because I can't afford a subscription myself) and my university newspaper. The odd time that I accidently stumble on the mess that is network news it's usually CNN.
So when is this plane going down? I'll ride it til' it hits the ground!

Also, this is a forum, a free exchange of ideas. I don't need permission from you, or anybody to answer a statement. What are you, the gdamned sheik of the forum?

Apology accepted. Thanks. Now you and I can actually have an intelligent conversation.
As for Obama's attempts at bipartisaship:
1. Health care. Obama's HC bill was pretty much right out Bob Dole's playbook. Republicans had no real substantial alternatives. Obama was willing to consider allowing states to compete so long as republicans came up with a strategy for all ins. companies going to the one state who had the most "friendly" insurance laws (no response). Obama also considered "tort reform" as a point where everyone could meet, but that only accounted for a small portion of healthcare costs. What was the GOP HC plan? Did they ever come up with one?
2. Energy ... he agreed to off-shore drilling and nuclear power, both GOP conservative agendas. Definitely not dem. And now look what happened down in the Gulf Coast ... this all was a result of the Bush/Cheney "closed door" energy policy to let big oil do whatever the F they wanted ... include doing lines of cocaine off the the breasts of female MMS workers. I couldn't believe Obama was pro-off shore drilling. In light of the Bush/Cheney energy policy and the complete lack of regulations, Obama should have shut all this drilling down until the industry standards and regulations were revamped.
You really need to read the Rolling Stone article on Gulf disaster. It will blow your mind. Trust me.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/17390/120130
3. Stimulus ... should have been more robust, but he knew that he could never get republican and bluedog dems on board for what was really needed to get us over the hump. That's why we're having the jobs slump ... people are too concerned right now with the deficit. We will have to worry about the deficit, but not now and not at the expense of jobs.
Do a google search on how many republican legislators who voted against the stimulus bill accepted stimulus money and then talked up how it created jobs in their states. There are a ton of them.
4. The wars ... just a continuation of Bush's foolishness. Now he even seems to be hedging on the deadline.
I'm sure I can find many more examples if I bothered to take the time, but let me turn the question around on you and you tell my how the GOP and attempted to see the president "half-way." The GOP - and I admire their solidarity and creativity - are all in lock-step against Obama. No, No and more No.
http://www.google.com/search?q=Obama+at ... =firefox-a
Here's a google link to all the articles on Obama's attempts at bipartisanship. I will tell you as a "progressive" or "liberal" or whatever tag you want to place on me, Obama certainly has not been a progressive liberal in his agenda from my point of view and many others on the left.

Federal judge Vaughn Walker overturns California's Prop 8 in win for same-sex marriage
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2010/08 ... _marr.html
A federal judge shot down California's ban on same-sex marriage Wednesday, ruling it unconstitutional.
"Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license," U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled.
"Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite-sex couples are superior to same-sex couples."

Palliative Care Extends Life, Study Finds
By DONALD G. McNEIL Jr.
Published: August 18, 2010
In a study that sheds new light on the effects of end-of-life care, doctors have found that patients with terminal lung cancer who began receiving palliative care immediately upon diagnosis not only were happier, more mobile and in less pain as the end neared — but they also lived nearly three months longer.
The findings, published online Wednesday by The New England Journal of Medicine, confirmed what palliative care specialists had long suspected. The study also, experts said, cast doubt on the decision to strike end-of-life provisions from the health care overhaul passed last year.
“It shows that palliative care is the opposite of all that rhetoric about ‘death panels,’ ” said Dr. Diane E. Meier, director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and co-author of an editorial in the journal accompanying the study. “It’s not about killing Granny; it’s about keeping Granny alive as long as possible — with the best quality of life.”

Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had Jewish and African relatives, DNA test suggests
By Michael Sheridan
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Tuesday, August 24th 2010, 10:37 AM
Could Hitler's hatred for the Jewish people have been a case of self-loathing?
The repulsive leader of Nazi Germany may have had Jewish and perhaps African relatives, according to DNA tests conducted on nearly 40 living relatives.
The report comes from the Belgium magazine, Knack, which says it obtained saliva samples after tracking down 39 relatives from throughout Europe, as well as in America.

Little-known fact: Obama's failed stimulus program cost more than the Iraq war
By: Mark Tapscott
08/23/10 11:32 AM EDT
Expect to hear a lot about how much the Iraq war cost in the days ahead from Democrats worried about voter wrath against their unprecedented spending excesses.
The meme is simple: The economy is in a shambles because of Bush's economic policies and his war in Iraq. As American Thinker's Randall Hoven points out, that's the message being peddled by lefties as diverse as former Clinton political strategist James Carville, economist Joseph Stiglitz, and The Nation's Washington editor, Christopher Hayes.
The key point in the mantra is an alleged $3 trillion cost for the war. Well, it was expensive to be sure, in both blood and treasure, but, as Hoven notes, the CBO puts the total cost at $709 billion. To put that figure in the proper context of overall spending since the war began in 2003, Hoven provides this handy CBO chart showing the portion of the annual deficit attributable to the conflict:
But there is much more to be said of this data and Hoven does an admirable job of summarizing the highlights of such an analysis:
* Obama's stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War -- more than $100 billion (15%) more.
* Just the first two years of Obama's stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush, or six years of that war.
* Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted.
* Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.
* Iraq War spending was not even 15% of the total deficit spending in that time frame. The cumulative deficit, 2003-2010, would have been four-point-something trillion dollars with or without the Iraq War.
* The Iraq War accounts for less than 8% of the federal debt held by the public at the end of 2010 ($9.031 trillion).
* During Bush's Iraq years, 2003-2008, the federal government spent more on education that it did on the Iraq War. (State and local governments spent about ten times more.)
Just some handy facts to recall during coming weeks as Obama and his congressional Democratic buddies get more desperate to put the blame for their spending policies on Bush and the war in Iraq
