Agreed. I was hoping they'd stay undefeated until Christmas. That would have made the game Vs the Cavs amazing.

Biyombo is better than Asik, and comes without the injury concerns and enormous contract

oh, god no.. I mean, you said it - his play absolutely can be described with the word "terrible".

he might become the first player, whose contract is considered to be very bad even under the new salary cap. The fact that he seemingly has the mood of Droopy the Dog on the court these last few seasons doesn't help his case either.

i am not giving up Asik yet, he is a very good, smart defender, screen setter... and believe it or not, for all the tease of his butter hands, he actually is a decent roll man... I could see how coach clifford likes him, just like how Tibs liked him
He is a much better defender than Al, way better PnR defender than Al, and more importantly a rim protector .... he probably sets best screens among big men, Kemba, Batum and Lin would absolutely love him...
In Pelicans, those guards absolutely ignore his existence on offensive end...the big man is no happy...

I remember arguing about him with someone on this board. I think I was on one end of a hypothetical trade and the other member was against it. The trade involved Asik and I supported the case for him, and it was during Howard's first season in Houston when Asik became the black sheep on that team.

Either way, whatever the conversation was about, I made all the same claims about Asik. Great defender, underrated as a role man, can actually score around the basket when found with good passes.

But, unfortunately, I've lost my faith in him. He's put up two worse seasons following that first Harden/Lin/Asik year in Houston and I don't think the newer style of play in the NBA is helping him. So, yeah, I'm kind of waiting for Asik to prove me wrong. Haven't liked what I've seen from him since then.

apparently Biyombo hit a turn around jumper today, reminds of that game against Howard in his first season.

Really thought we had something then

I just watched the video of the shot, but his other made field goal was better

Personally this has been my favorite Biyombo moment of the season, catching a between the legs (of Duncan, no less) pass from Scola for a dunk:

For a guy that can't catch, he seems to have a knack for catching flashy passes. Hmm.

Scola really couldn't have put that pass in a better place for someone like Biz. Either he catches it or it hits him in the chest.

ahh... and I made all of those Biz vs. Howard videos back then. he had like four good games against him in a row.

this one looked a bit awkward though. I like the one against Howard better.

Super weird that you guys are already talking on this.. Raptors fan here, just wanted to post to ask you Hornets fans what Biz was like while with your team and why you guys didn't bring him back. He's starting for Toronto as you know with Valenciunas having a broken hand and he has been more then capable on defence, rotating, protecting the rim, setting great screens.. of course we all know he has hands of stone and couldn't catch a beachball to save his life but Id say thus far his impact with the Raptors has been far more positive than negative.

So, what do you guys think of him this season compared to last? Has he improved at all? Do y'all miss his game at all?

That description sounds about right. From what I've seen, I'd say that he's playing at the height of his capabilities (at least from what he's shown so far during his career) and it's pretty much the same he showed here last season.

I missed him initially and the lack of a defender like Biz might prove to be costly at some certain point, but overall our team has moved in a different direction. If we had hung on to him then probably we would have to find a way to ship out Zeller. Zeller's the only rim-runner + defensive player we have left and the rest of the players are on the team since they can shoot and/or create (sans Al Jefferson who's the elephant in the room). It was real hard to play the two of them together and have any kind of a good NBA offense. It turned into a game of 90ish points per 100 possession on both ends of the court.

The thing I've noticed though is that he has impacted your offense somewhat negatively as well (I'm basing this on the numbers). It's one thing for him not to succeed on our last year's toilet-clogged offense but one could have figured that it would be easier for Biz to play in a real NBA offense. However, it seems like that at least Toronto isn't the place for that either. He might just be limited to such a point that he needs something like a Warriors Festus Ezeli environment not to be a somewhat noticeable disruption.

I think we all miss Biyombo as a guy much more than we miss his game.

This is my favorite basketball play of the year. It is Gerald Green's brother.

From the GB:

Brian Geltzeiler @hoopscritic
League source tells me that Dave Joerger is extremely close to being fired. Depending upon tonight's game, could happen as soon as tomorrow

Brian Geltzeiler @hoopscritic
League source also tells me that John Hollinger is also on extremely thin ice as well with the Grizzlies.

Planning on watching the Raps - Pacers game later. Was boxscore watching and apparently TOR opened up a lead early of 24 - 5 six minutes into the first quarter, but were down 11 at the half. They are currently down 18 just 4 minutes into the third quarter.

So maybe not watching that game after all, given that it's a blow out. Man, and I thought the BOS loss was bad.

Rodney Stuckey and Jordan Hill are +43 and +44 in this game

Frank Vogel is a damn fine coach.

And that's with Paul George not playing up to his standards

Lamar strikes gold, interviews 80s Nuggets legend Bill Hanzlik. Only 13 minutes, man, I hope you can get him on again some time. He could give you another 30 minutes just from the time he was a Hornets assistant under Allan Bristow. And then another 30 minutes on more Lever/English questions. :)
