What would you give up for him?

Knight + Tyson.

He's been a 4th option his entire career, how do we know what he is or isn't?

Max contract vs rookie contract.

Unless you are just not a Warren fan and want to max our cap space.

I completely disagree with you guys on this. I would definitely pay Barnes. I like Warren but he just broke his foot and has only shown flashes so far.

I don't hate the idea of Barnes, but I hate the idea of paying him 20MM a year to play here

Would rather draft Jaylen Brown, and he's probably No 5 on my draft list. Barnes hasn't shown me anything that makes me believe he can be a leader of a team.

Kevin Love needs a shot blocker next to him... An Ibaka or Jordan would fix him up a bit.

Wild idea: Mia sign and trade Whiteside, Winslow, Mcbob for #13,#28, Chandler, Tucker

I'm not advocating they give Barnes a max but if they do I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about the money. Hell guys like mirza are gonna get 8+ a year. I'd happily take barns at 20 than a combination of mirza at 8 and chandler at 12.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Ive never understood the reasoning that a mistake is okay because it's less-worse than another mistake would be.

And I don't understood the reasoning "cap is going up, let's give crazy money to somebody, who cares?".
Cap is going up, players contracts are going up. In the end overpaying is still dumb.

Well lets leave Tyson out of it because that is done. Lets compare Mirza, Harrison and TJ. Tell me what makes Barnes so special? He is the worst across the board in most of the categories...pure stats, advanced stats, you name it, and he probably has it easier with so little attention on him.

Here is the link if you really want to describe why he that's not a terrible deal in relation. I'm not even a big Mirza fan, but that contract would be way better than Harrison at 20. Harrison was well below an avg bball player this year.

http://bkref.com/tiny/VYiXF

The only good thing about signing Harrison to a max is that we could continue the tank for next year and get another high pick and likely for longer and we wouldn't have any money left to make more stupid signings. But if McD makes that one, hopefully he doesn't last longer than a year and we can bring someone in to make some better decisions when it comes to FA and what we really need to focus on to build and sustain success.

Why don't we just sign Barnes, draft Brown and load up on SFs like we do PGs? Sounds like another great plan.

The things that i always look at is Defensive ratings, Offensive ratings, Win shares (Both Offensive & Defensive). Barnes is ahead on all those, but just barely. Still, i am not a Barnes fan at all and i think it would be stupid to chase him in the offseason, even if it is less than the max.

He's playing a different role on an all time great team. I don't have any concerns that he could be 1 or 2 option on a playoff team.

If he's just BARELY ahead that's REALLY bad, because GS has just a wee bit few more wins to SHARE than the Suns do this year. Like about 50.

But what exactly makes you think that? Even if you look at almost any # per 36 he doesn't measure up, and in shooting he is mostly worse than those guys, except slightly better than Mirza from 2 pt range and a better FT shooter than Warren. He's a tiny bit better at assists, but none of them are very good at that.

He's a pretty good player, just like those guys are. TJ has way way way more upside having only played about a full season compared to 4 for the other two guys. I added Batum and Parsons, and they are both quite a bit better as well. All four of Mirza, TJ, Parsons and Batum have PERs in the 15-16 range and Barnes is at 12.3. Not the best stat to use across positions, but for a simple quick rating that picks up across most major stat cats and shooting efficiency, it's works better when comparing players that play the same position.
