I don't know if it's because the image I have of him in my head, but he moves like a SF here to me. Quick.

Re: The Chicago Bulls select forward Patrick Williams #4 overall.
I was floored by this and I like Pat, he is going to be good I just don't get the ceiling play and we are talking about the 4th pick in the Draft
The Bulls got nobody worth drafting for fit around, and to me Williams isn't even in the convo for BPA at that point, I don't see the upside/value play, he is going to be very solid but he is just not dynamic enough, very young and supposedly very hard worker, but still
He does know how to play and has some shooting potential, but even though he is well built, he is athleticism is pretty piss poor outside of just pure jumping, movement is rough, can't hang out on the perimeter on D, nor create much for himself or others
He is probably a solid starting PF at some point for a good team (he is def not a 3)

I don’t how some people say he’s a PF. Everything about him screams a SF to me, which is what he is. He has the ability to slide over the 4 in certain lineups but so do guys like Kawhi, George, Brown etc.

That’s another good potential comp. Can’t remember if he ever made an All-Star team.
It's a terrible comp, Wallace was one of the best athletes if you consider strength ever, Pat isn't close, **** is ridiculous

yes he does...
he also reminds me of Paul Milsap as well.
I see a more athletic Paul Milsap, which is a pretty great outcome if realized.
Jesus christ, he is way less athletic than Millsap was, who also has a 7'2 wingspan at 6'6
go watch some highlights of Millsap from his time at LA Tech I beg you

LJ was a 20 year-old freshman.
Haha, ok fair enough. If we just would have waited two years, I’m sure Pat Williams would have been POY
LJ was a junior college transfer. He was the player of the year in JUCO before transferring to UNLV.

James Johnson is a fine comp, Marvin Williams is too, Jared Dudley in some aspects
He is that type of player, good rotation guy at a position where that brings value

Re: The Chicago Bulls select forward Patrick Williams #4 overall.
2 recent picks that make interesting comps for Williams are Deandre Hunter and Miles Bridges. He compares pretty favorably to both on physical metrics and in his skillset but neither one is a plus defender for their team at this point (they both carry a drtg slightly above the team's) where Williams may be from day 1. The more I look at Williams he doesn't seem all that raw to me at all. He looks rather polish in every aspect of the game except working off the dribble. Am I crazy here? Cause if you were someone who wanted Deandre Hunter and wept because he was out of reach for us I can't see any good reason not to be really excited for Williams.

Iguodala played spot-PF for most his time in GS and most recently MIA. Butler with more than a 6'8 wingspan would've been a dominant combo forward all day.
In GS he played PF 6% of the time, he was a SF 83% of the time. In MIA he was at SG 70% of the time & SF 29% of the time.
Well, spot-minutes would imply a small amount of time. Coupled with the skew of whether Durant/Barnes were really playing PF or SF while trading assignments and match-ups...
And the total bizarro-ness of these estimates anyway.:
Apparently, Miami Jimmy played 46% of his time at PF and 0% at SG in the playoffs, while Iguodala shared minutes with him and apparently played 0% PF and 70% SG... while Jimmy was the "starting SG."

Way less than Milsap? You seem to enjoy overreacting.

Agree.
I also agree with AK in that the kid's handle is underrated. What I really like is that he uses both hands very well. Watching some of the videos on him and I'm impressed with his ambidextrous skill set. I really like this kid and I see the upside here that AK speaks of. I also like the kid's personality a lot. He seems very humble and he seems willing to listen and be coachable. We might have struck gold here with a point forward with a strong body, high IQ and great athleticism.

Yes a College Junior looks better then a young freshmen. Pat has room to grow.

His strength is his best asset. He has a good base and plays within himself. He can become much better but he will have at least a solid career.

Re: The Chicago Bulls select forward Patrick Williams #4 overall.
I don't see Gerald Wallace. Crash was a freak athlete who's ceiling was severely limited by being one of the worst natural shooters in the NBA. He shot 50% from the FT line in college and 17% from 3. But his freakish athleticism still gave him a long career in the league as a hustle guy. He eventually learned to shoot better, but it took years, his mid to late 20s.
Williams projects as a phenomenal shooter, 84% FT at just 18 yrs old. And his athleticism is above average but nowhere near on Wallace's level. He's not going to make it just on his athleticism; not good enough.
And even if it was freakish, that still just makes him another Jordan Bell. I'm assuming these other teams saw a kid who can one day shoot lights out.

He needs a different genetic code to grow into that type of athlete

Not ready to declare him a point-forward at all but I did notice he can straight line dribble drive effectively with either hand. I'm with you on coachability, he seems to rank very high on that scale.

Re: The Chicago Bulls select forward Patrick Williams #4 overall.
He will be this roster's Pippen. Probably not the same ceiling, but a similar role. By year 2 he will be the starter at SF (barring injury), and he will get the toughest defensive assignment matchups from 2-4. He's only 19. I like the arc he puts on his jumpers. When he's on they are smooth through the net. I think within a few years he'll get better from outside. Not elite, but average to better than average. If he gives us that plus strong perimeter defense then it's at least a triple by the FO. He's physically solid at only 19 years and 3 months old. Wait until he's about 22 after our new development team works with him. He's going to be a stud. I just hope he doesn't catch the SF injury bug we seemed to have had these last several years.
