Afflalo alone is not worth Bledsoe though, I'd happily do Afflalo + Harkless for Bledsoe + Caron (as a filler) + our pick, but that's probably not enough for them either. Maybe adding 1 or 2 second rounders, or another heavily protected 1st.
It's not gonna be easy to find a balanced trade that includes both Bled and Afflalo.
why would you give up our pick? we are doing them a favor for taking on a long term deal of afflalo who is clearly too old to be part of their rebuilding, and not only give them an expiring of caron but gift wrap bledsoe who can be their cornerstone PG AND a pick? no way no how harkless is enough for those assets.
either i would ask them to throw in their high pick, which i doubt they would, or take bledsoe out of that deal and go caron + 25th for afflalo and their 2nd rounder.
Alright I guess it's my turn to play devil's advocate
On the other hand, the 25th pick in this draft is very likely to not crack the rotation on any NBA team this year, if ever. And late 1st round picks have guaranteed salary, while early 2nds don't, so I'd say their 2nd round pick 6 spots back has more value than our first (EDIT- just seen that they owe their 2nd to Cleveland this year so that's a moot point). And hopefully if we stay a good team, our future picks are not gonna have a lot of value either.
About Caron, underperforming players on expiring contracts only have value if you intend to trade them for a bad contract + an asset, which is something rebuilding teams are looking to get, not give away. Orlando will be under the cap as soon as they buy out Turkoglu so they have no reason to be giving away assets to shed salary. The only way we're gonna be able to trade Butler is if we get an equal or lesser player on a worse contract.
I am very high on Bledsoe and I've been known to overvalue him, so you don't need to convince me on him, but with that deal we'd be getting our wing rotation and our starting 5 sorted fo the long term, so I think it would be good enough for us to give up on Bled. That deal would make us a considerably better team in the next few years than if we stand pat, that's why I'd be willing to overpay a little to make it happen.
That's the way I see it anyway.

And please no Rudy Gay, I'd rather roll with Dajuan Summers at SF than paying him superstar money. Plus he's a horrible fit for us.

Agreed. Horrible fit and is overpaid. We don't need any more ball dominant players when Blake isn't even getting as much touches as he needs to.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
It is difficult to find the best trades before we have chosen a coach (and therefore a style of play). I think every clipper fan can agree that Caron Butler is underperforming. If we can get some salary off our books, like butler, odom would it be possible to attain a player like danny granger? Pacers need bench players and they proved they can make it without granger. A trade for example of bledsoe, butler, odom/Turiaf.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
I wouldn't say Caron is underperforming. He's 32, he's having the best shooting years of his career, his scoring rate is about where his career has been. He's just not that good and makes too much.
His contract does make him not too hard to move

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
I think Rudy Gay would be great with Chris Paul - they were olympic teammates (I think), and along with Griffin, can make a formidable 'big 3' of sorts.
Yeah, I know the contract sucks (only 2 yrs left on his deal though), but you know what, the Clippers become a legit contender imo, with him. Rudy Gay is an elite defender at SF, and was shooting the ball better down the stretch of games last season with Toronto. He's a definite upgrade over Butler and Barnes, no?
From Toronto's perspective, we're sort of that in rebuilding area, where a guy like Bledsoe fits and makes sense. I don't know, I think it's a fair trade. It's not like Rudy Gay is some washed up dude, he's around the same age as Chris Paul.

When you are trying to convince another team that your player and his massive contract would be great for them, there's something wrong there, lol

All I'm saying is, despite his contract, Rudy is a really good player. But, I guess he's developed some sort of bad rep around the league.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
^ No bad rep here. I think we acknowledge the fact that he IS a good player but he is NOT a max player. He is effective with the ball in his hands and we do not need any more of those kinds of players. What we need are lengthy defenders who can play without the ball and can shoot, as well as stretch bigs.
Now, if you guys are thinking of amnestying Bargnani, I think we would be interested

The bad rep IS his contract, and the fact that he's a bit of an inefficient player. He's an on ball scorer, disappointingly not so good as a catch and shoot player. He's an 18-19 pts / 6 rebs / 2-3 assists guy that isn't a very efficient scorer making franchise player money.
He's certainly above average, but you can find above average or close enough for a lot less money.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
Fair enough. I still believe Rudy with Chris Paul at PG can be a pretty dangerous player, particularly if the coach y'all hire is open to playing a fast-paced, uptempo style of play, which would be case with George Karl.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
Yea, it would be nice, just not $17.9M and $19.3M nice. I'd take Jared Dudley at $4M and put money elsewhere.
Other problem is that Chris Paul doesn't play fast break basketball, though Karl could get him to do more of it.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
Just an idea, not sure if there'd have to be something else involved.
It would be a three team trade involving the Clips, Blazers and Suns.
Clippers trade:
Caron Butler
Eric Bledsoe
top 20 protected first round pick(2014)
Clippers receive:
Wesley Matthews
Jared Dudley
Blazers trade:
Wesley Matthews
Meyers Leonard
Blazers receive:
Marcin Gortat
Suns trade:
Marcin Gortat
Jared Dudley
Suns receive:
Caron Butler
Meyers Leonard
Eric Bledsoe
top 20 protected first round pick(2014)

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
we instantly become a better defensive team, but i see us struggling often to put up points on the board with that lineup. but i guess not a whole lot different from our starters from previous year.
