Do this trade and then sign and trade lowry for a pick and WIN!

Couldn't the same be said for Salmons?
If you're asking Casey, no.

Salmons contract is the real draw for them. It can be bought out for a mill.
Honestly, I think Prince will end up being more handy in situational defensive matchups than Salmons was. Depends on the matchup but even at his age I think his length will help. He's 6'9 with a massive wingspan so he's probably got an 8'10 standing reach or so. We might have been able to use that against Joe Johnson for a some minutes here and there on those little turnaround hook/floaters that will forever haunt my dreams.

Love to see something like that happen.
I saw this on Bleacher Report and thought it was a good idea...
Let's say Lowry is considering leaving, why dont we sign and trade him for Steve Nash and THE 7th pick drafting Marcus Smart?
What? The lakers (or any team really) would never give up the 7th pick in a good draft just to rid themselves of a 10 million expiring contract... Especially when they can just sign Lowry outright with the cap space they have

You're seriously going to compare Duncan to anybody we have on the roster just because they were top-10 picks. If anything, it just proves the discrepancy of top-5 picks with the rest of the field.
Duncan is leaps and bounds ahead of anyone that has even sniffed a Raptors jersey, and that includes Carter and McGrady. He was an MVP candidate from the moment he put a Spurs jersey on will arguably go down as the greatest player of this generation (including Kobe).
You keep shifting goalposts and changing your argument. I don't even think you know what you're arguing for anymore.
I'm arguing the fact that you don't build a team with low draft picks, you complement the players you already have. We still don't have a player/players which you can add complementary pieces to, just a bunch of complementary pieces. We don't have a 'Duncan'.

I want to know what makes you think trading ross for wilson chandler is a good deal?[/quote]
When proposing trades i like to think of the benefit of both teams and not the fleecing of one. With that said i personally dont like ross playing the three long term and that is what we're looking at, the long term. i'd prefer him playing a sixth man role but posters here are against that saying it'd stunt his growth so why not trade for chandler who is a big defensive sf who can shoot the three, rebound, and comes with a pretty decent contract, which if im not mistaken expires right around the time when durant becomes a free agent. Denver does this because thyve coveted a athletic wing for a while now, although with the recent trade of afflalo it probably isnt as much of a priority now.

Lowry could pull a Bosh move sending #7 to be free to join the Lakers. S&T for UFA aren't trades they are usually orchestrated by the player. Teams have no leverage.

You're forgetting Demar as a #9 overall pick and being named an all-star last year! That was a decent pick!
very true! my bad, that was a pretty good pick too.

To Denver: Ross and Fields
To Toronto: Chandler and a future 2nd
Nash/Smart (7)/ De Colo
DeRozan/ ?
Wilson Chandler/ Inglis (37)
Amir/2Pat/ Capela (20)
JV/ Bachynski (59)/ Hayes
OR
Nash /Smart (7)/ De Colo
DeRozan/ Dinwiddie (37)
Wilson Chandler/ Huestis (59)
Amir/2Pat/ Capela (20)
JV/ ? / Hayes
Both lineups are great defensively and JV will become more of a focal point in the offense.
I don't think S&T works like that. There is less bargain with the new CBA for the previous team. Besides, Lakers have cap space to sign Lowry out right.

Nobody has a Duncan. Except the Spurs. We shouldn't try to get better unless we have a Duncan first?

HolyMage110 wrote:inglis is making into the first round. finally people recognizing his potential and talent.
I'm no draft expert and I believe that a player's development is 90% predicated on the way he is groomed by the team that pick him. That said, I would personally be very dissapointed if we drafted Inglis with the 20th or 37th pick.
Inglis might have potential but the fact of the matter is that you cannot play him if you intend to win games unless we start blowing teams out on a nightly basis and he gets enough garbage time.
Inglis is a boy who cannot defend at the NBA level right now: not only will he get manhandled by stronger players, he doesn't have the lateral speed to stay in front of most players AS OF YET. Inglis also can't score consistenly. As a matter of fact, he doesn't have any discernable skills other than his "potential" and "intriging length".
Notice how all the other players we are rumoured to be interested in (e.g., Ennis, Capela, Stokes, McDaniels) have at least 1 skill that translates to the NBA in addition to potential?
Is it possible that Inglis turns out to be better than the other players we are rumoured to be interested in? Of course! Yet, I would venture to guess that it won't happen and even go so far as to say that he ends up being another Jared Jeffries type player (+/- injuries).

Wonder if we're going to package Prince and fillers for something else, don't really see the point of having Prince on the roster...

Wouldn't bringing in 2 more rookies be too much ? Aren't we already young enough ? I still think Masai packages both these picks for something else.

We are going no where anyways may get some solid young players for our complete rebuild

Raptors will wait till #22 to see if Ennis/Capela are there. If they are, they do the deal. If not they pass.
So if we pass, wouldnt that mean that Salmons is still a Raptor and we can no longer buy him out? Nightmare scenario.
No. You can buy him out before June 30th

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

You're right, there's no point in having Prince on the roster, but taking Prince is the price you have to pay for upgrading your 37th pick to a 22nd pick. But of course, Prince is an expiring contract so he could sit on the bench for the entire next season and be gone after that. But in all likelihood...Prince comes off the bench for whatever minutes Salmons would have played if he were to remain a Raptor. Impact of Prince is minimal...but he has to be included in the deal.

Prince fills the need for what Masai said he was looking for at the end of a season.
