Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
I think it´s really hard for players like Dragan to shine in summer league setting. I think SL is mostly for guards and wings who can create for themselves (like Fox), while Dragans strengths going on will be good shooting (for his position), ability to switch and defend on the perimeter, playing good positional defence, good passing ability and ability to put the ball to the floor (for his position). Don´t think he´s gonna ever gonna shine on the boxscore or have a single massive game, but his impact will rather show over the whole season and playoffs. I think the same applies partly to Jackson also atm.
I´m not that high on Chriss, but I think Chriss, Bender and Jackson together give us a lot of exciting possibilities rotation wise.

I must admit, going back on watching some of Dragan's "lowlights" - he tended not to let his mistakes cost the team. He'd get the ball safely to a teammate, he didn't give up points or opportunities. I'm sure the FO will use this SL as a chance to review what position Dragan will be best suited for in his prime. If he could hold his own a bit better underneath, I might suggest center. I like him taking Len's place on offense, that's for sure. On the glass, though? Night and day.
If McD could somehow fuse his two BWS selections into one player, we'd have a real gem.

No doubt that Summer league is about individual play which benefits guards and wings as you say. Hard to install and practice much on offense and defense. A team built on passing and player/ball movement is not something I would expect to see much of in the Summer League. I thought Bender did well on defense. Especially when he took the switch and had to guard Fox. Overall our shooting was poor (besides Reed

I can’t watch this Celtics vs Lakers game. The fake Laker fans are too annoying.

I watched it. Lonzo played amazing. It's fun to watch. Tatum is gifted but does not pass the ball. Does. Not. Pass. Might be instructions by the coaches for SL but his teammates were clearly annoyed.

I don't see how Lonzo is better than our Ulis. Maybe better rebounder and dunker but that's it. Ulis is better at defense and scoring.

No question about Ball's passing but that only gets him to Williams / Rondo / Rubio.
His difference maker was his winners narrative and 3 point shooting, neither which have happened yet.

I would say the stat keepers were pretty generous on the assists given to Lonzo. Seems like a lot of after the catch dribbling was done by some of his teammates.

Tatum looks like Joe Johnson v2.0... even similar body and skill set.
If Ball can become Rubio... thats a success IMO... Rubio is under rated because he doesnt score from the arc, but put him in a team where has runners and uptempo players he would lead the league in assists and steals.

Well Lonzo Ball is not 5'6, so there's that.

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
I have finally watched the game against the Kings.
I think it was a difficult game, the Kings have an NBA roster in Summer League, so the win is a big one IMO.
I liked a lot the post defense from Bender. He is very good holding his postion and he bothers shots.
Offensively he is just an stretch four at this point, not more nor less. Hopefully he improves ball handling/post moves, because he is not good at that on the NBA level.
Chriss played bad and good. I expect him to be a dominant player in Summer League, but he played against Labissiere and Papagiannis, so it was NBA competition and not that easy.
19 points and 9 rebound after all, but he needs to be better with the fouls.
Josh Jackson played exactly like I thought he would play for us. Fast, agile, agressive.
Great ball handler. 6/7 in free throws was great to see.
Happy about Reed. The guy is solid. He is a shooter and we needed that. He can play next to Booker, Warren or Jackson...he is a good fit next to everyone.
First game, first win. Who is neck?

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
I felt like Marquese played a little lazy, seemed like he kind of thought he could just dominate without really trying. Bunch of turnovers and a bunch of fouls. Also shot poorly, I think that may have something to do with the weight gain as he's probably not used to it. The weight gain could also be why he appeared lazy cause even he admits he isn't in season shape. Not too worried though, he'll cut when the season comes around and be fine, but I've tempered my expectations for him SL wise.

Well Ball can't shoot and drive past anyone, so there's that.

I was thinking the same. Media needs the hype... smh

But a good bounceback game for Lonzo nevertheless, although shooting is still missing. 5/13 overall 1/5 from downtown. The 4 made FG's were mostly dunks and layups on the open court.
Tatum is Melo lite. Good for them, I just don't see how they will play their 15 wing guys together. Hayward, Brown, Tatum, Crowder, Morris, Young, Semi... Ainge should trade more to get frontcourt help now that Olynik is gone... Horford is pretty much all they got, unless they go small for full time with Morris and Crowder as their small ball 4s.
Heat will trade Whiteside sooner than you can say weak-side-block. Bam has been beasting, the exact same way - and is on a rookie contract for 4 years. 17.5 points 8,3 rebs 2,3 bls, 1stl, good FT % in Orlando, as averages. First Vegas game: 18pts 10reb 2stl 6/6 FT.
Sure, FG% is not good, but he is trying to do more than he will be asked to do in the league. Dude euro-stepped and all!

I gotta nitpick this statement a little my man. Give markieff the athletcisim of marquese and he is one of the best power forwards in the league. The Morris brothers problem was never effort, work ethic, or even BBIQ. It was an inability to control emotions and pretty average athleticism (T-Rex arms included) that held the twins back.
I do think the Amare comps have always been a little silly though, Chriss will never have the sheer strength that Amare had. Just looking at Amare's frame it should be clear that he was a much stronger player.
Chriss honestly reminds me more of Josh Smith, if Josh Smith could shoot.

I was talking more about impact/production than comparing their games. Style-wise I hope he resembles Bosh in a few years, by working on post moves and midrange game.
