For our point guard issue, tank for Cade Cunningham or sign Fred Van Fleet. Or draft Pritchard/Tre Jones with our other picks.
Before he got into the league Mario Hezonja was everything Mario Hezonja was supposed to be. Mario looked pretty damn good pre NBA ....do you think Deni looks demonstrably better?
I had to go back and look at some film on both Gallo and Mario and these are the things I’ve noticed. Gallo of course was the better shooter and had size to post his man up, he could play either forward positions and was pretty smooth with his handles. Mario was very athletic, but also had a very fluid catch and shoot. I wish he could have become more consistent could have become a great player with his style of play. Like Knox we were just waiting for that other shoe to drop to show greatness.
Deni is more of a shooting guard where he thrives in open court, he has the better handle at that age than Mario although he dribbles a little too high and out of control to be a consistent ball handler in the NBA, not saying that can’t change, but it would frustrate the heck out of me. He also has a bad habit of jumping when he makes his passes, most of the time leaving me wondering why even jump because he commits and takes away second options. He does throw some nice passes that make you think of Luca, but Luca was stronger and more defined at that age. I don’t see Deni as a top 6 though, more of an 8-10 because he has a lot of flaws to his game compared to when Gallo, Mario, and Luca came in. He just has a lot of question marks in his game that make him a high risk.
