I'm on board with VO or a similar kind of player whose speed and handles would wreak havoc on opposing defenses in Mia's offense.
I'd like to explore cheaper options that won't require surrendering valuable assets first, though.

I doubt they're going to do wrong by Goran, just saying that it's unlikely to afford both Goran and max-ish player like Dipo

I’m on board with renting Oladipo for the year (obviously depending on what we have to give up) - does Nunn, Olynyk and #20 get it done? Wouldn’t give up any more than that.
Then you have the option of paying him after next season if he balls out and/or we can’t get a big fish to sign here.

Pretty amazing. Overall I get it, that's who he is. But I wish he relaxed, he needs rest.

Iv'e been thinking about our options and this is the best case scenario I could come up with :
Move #1 :
Heat trade Andre Iguodala + K.Nunn + #20 draft pick
for
Victor Oladipo
Pros : Get a ready now player, that hopefully can bounce back and return to Allstar level. Fits a need at PG and is a buy low stock.
Cons : Might not return to his pre-injury self. We're giving up 2 useful cheap labor contracts (Nunn+pick) that could come extermmly handy for a team like us trying to go after the big fish in free agency.
Important note - there's no way we can keep Dipo IF Giannis wants to come here next year. So basically, it's a rental unless we miss out on Giannis/Kawhi.
If Giannis/Kawhi/Other superstar does come here, we just wasted 2 cheap labor players (Nunn + #20) that couldv'e helped Gianni's Heat to contend. And we wasted them on a 1 year rental of a guy coming off injury.
Move #2 :
I believe Kelly opts in, and we'll need to move him to create space for the next moves :
Kelly + Future second round pick
For
Bobby Portis (team option)
We don't pick up the option, Portis walks. Knicks don't want him anyway, so they get a second for him going away. Kelly can play in NY.
Move #3:
After moving Kelly's salary and adding Dipo, We're left with 37Mil# under the projected cap (109).
Resign Goran for 1 year, 20 Mil$.
Sign Danilo Gallinari for a 1 year, 17 Mil$.
Roster :
Oladipo/Dragic
Jimmy/Herro
Robinson/Hill
Gallinari/KZ
Bam/_____
How good is this team? I'm not sure. Some health risks..but also some potntial if things click...

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

As the Eastern Conference Champs anything less than the caliber of a roster like the above won't be good enough for next season when teams, not only will be bolstered by new acquisitions, but two in particular expect to add fire power & revenge for spoiling their hopes.
Our measuring stick will always be LA. We lost twice to them in reg season i believe. If we can win at the very least 50% of our reg season gm's against them we know we're in the right direction. We win them all wld indicate were in championship form.
W/ Miami being a top spot for players I'm looking forward to a week or so or when ever FA begins. Interesting to see who'll reach out to ride w/ Dem Goons frm Dade.

Free Agency doesn’t begin until like December, sadly. Got around a month until the Draft and then another month for FA. Sucks.

You may not agree, but Jimmy has me not giving a dam about finding a player better than him. I want to build a team around him and try to win a title. I do not care about Giannis, or some possible free agent or a draft pick. I'm down with getting a bunch veteran ballers like Dallas did with Dirk. I don't care if it's 40mill Chris Paul, John Wall or Paul Wall. if they can help win a title next yr run it.3ballbomber wrote:RexBoyWonder wrote:

Chris Paul at 36 and 37 for 40m? Dirk's team was the only one that won a championship since 2004 without 2 superstars, why bother to take that route?

What a playoff run, I lost my account and didn’t post due to superstitious/jinx reasons. So enjoyable especially in lockdown. Trying real hard to not be salty over the novice Vogel and constant whining from the lakers, I wish we squashed them like we did to those Boston turds especially Marcus smart- that was so fun. Hopefully the heat can add someone with some breakdown moves to keep the amazing ball movement this team relied on and give it another go next season

I do not care if they make 200 billion.
Spurs didn't have two superstars. Duncan was a legend but he was far from superstar level. When you have the foundation for it run it. After this playoff run you now have experienced young players. They are basically vets now. Sure they need to improve their games, but they have elite experience. If the Heat could get a chip next year, its all worth it. Thats two finals run with a title, its worth it. That more than Okc Kevin Durant young team. Nothing is a promise when you see an opening take it.
Take advantage of Duncan, Bam, Nunn, Herro small contracts. Soon they will get paid and fill up the cap.

We have to have restraint, and we can’t be stupid. We just need to add a superstar to this core, and that guy is Giannis.
We are already in position to have bird rights of all the young pieces, so we can go over the salary cap to resign them, so trying to retain them would be a non-issue.
Do you want an instant gratification title and compete for 1-2 seasons, or do you want to compete for a decade?

VO is nice. I wonder if we could also get Myles Turner without giving up Bam/Herro/Robinson?
Olapido/Dragic
Robinson/Herro
Butler
Bam
Turner
That’s a core right there which can make it back to the finals.

I agree that if we don't add talent, we'll take a step backwards.
That's why I think we should probably pull the trigger and try to add Oladipo and Gallo, if we can for those assets.
If Giannis does come here the year after, we'll have to find cheap replacments for Nunn and lost #20 pick.

With $200b to spend you still after CP3? No, you could afford to buy the whole league, trade top 15 over here and supermax everyone including Burnie.
