Love Shaq's insight--"If you're not hitting shots, you can't just keep shooting." His entire head-scratching broadcast career conveys the importance of having an iron-clad prenup in place.

Good, maybe prime Hakeem should've checked into the game for Milwaukee and Dream Shaked them to victory like they did over the Magic in the '95 Finals.

All the Bucks have, like most wannabe contenders, is perimeter shooters (surrounding their non-shooting max guy). The Nets' two shooters are just better.

Thibs would play DeAndre Jordan at the 5, Claxton at the 4, Jeff Green at the 3, KD at the 2 and Kyrie at the 1.

And play Harden 15 minutes per game off the bench.

tbf, he would win a chip with that lineup so :dontknow:

As would I. The first thing I would do would be to instill the D'Antoni in-game management style.

Shame on Hans Klopek for his last few years in Detroit. His ‘came with the frame’ ass was blatantly sandbagging. Disgraceful

Pretty remarkable how its been less than ten years since the billy king trade. Here they are, favorites to win a title.

really wish it wasn't the nets - but it was really poetic how the team Ainge's Celtics f'ed over in the big 3 trade ended up getting him canned.

Kyrie completely shattered the 48 Rules of Power, outshining the master and becoming an even better Player-GM than his estranged Stepfather LeBron.

What's remarkable is that over that time period, the Knicks never were able to even put themselves in that position.

Since the Billy King trade, the Knicks:

- Traded for Bargnani
- Fired Glen Grunwald just months after the Knicks had their best season in 16 years and promoted Steve Mills
- Saw James Dolan veto a trade for Kyle Lowry
- Hired Phil Jackson
- Had Derek Fisher, Jeff Hornacek and Kurt Rambis as head coaches
- Tried to shame one of the most popular players in the NBA in Melo publicly
- Signed Joakim Noah
- Didn't let Phil trade KP when his value was at its highest
- Let Phil draft Frank Ntilikina ahead of Donovan Mitchell only to fire him a couple of weeks later
- Hired Steve Mills as POBO and Scott Perry as GM
- Overpaid for Tim Hardaway Jr
- Hired David Fizdale as head coach
- Drafted Kevin Knox
- Banned journalists of the Daily News from their preseason press conference (aka censorship)
- Saw James Dolan go on the radio and further expose himself to ridicule by promising a great summer
- Beefed with Spike Lee (who might have overreacted, but still the response by Dolan was egregious)
- Had the worst record in the NBA entering free agency (morons)

I mean that's a horror show of dysfunction and incompetence.

Harden gets a ring barely even contributing?

The NBA should just start giving out Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Don't forget about Fisher's cross country booty call (in the middle of training camp) which resulted in getting beat up by Matt Barnes.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Celts did well with those picks. They got the best players available in 2016 and 2017.

It was a matter of the Nets being located in a desirable market combined with competent management post Billy King.

If the Knicks had just shown a similar level of competence in the 2 years prior, they'd be the team with KD and Kyrie and likely also Harden.

Yup. Sean Marks is a good manager and three great and compatible players decided they wanted to play ball together.

The optimistic side of this is it should... I repeat should... show Dolan that all you need to do is spend a few years building competently in NYC and the stars will start to align, so to speak.
