I disagree. While I think Boston is one of the best teams in the league, I don't think they cakewalk to the finals if they had to play through the Western Conference gauntlet. More talented teams with stronger identities spread across the West compared to the East.

The Celtics are extremely fortunate to be playing NYK in this round instead of the Pacers. The Celtics are probably the best team in the East, but this year the #2 seed has ended up with a much easier path to the Finals than the #1. It will reap benefits in the ECF as well, because whoever wins the 1-4 matchup is likely to be much more fatigued than Boston.

BOS would've been the favorites and my pick to come out no matter their path, but things are a bit easier for them given the matchups.

Boston is just the worst matchup for this Knicks team. They can't hide Brunson on defense, so they are at a major disadvantage every time on the court.
