being too sloppy with the ball has been too common of a theme for the lynx this year

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Li Yueru apparently asking for a trade, which makes sense. Not getting very many minutes, even though she had a pair of 3's in the first last night to keep the Storm in it until the rest of the team's shooting could come around.
Lynx maybe could use some frontcourt depth. I wonder if they'd be willing to give up Karlie Samuelson or maybe that Chicago pick.

That feels like way too much.

Haha. I know, just wishful thinking.
But 6''7" off the bench might be helpful when it comes time to deal with Jonquel and the Liberty. And they let Badiane go today.
Diamond Miller or Alissa Pili might make some sense, if the Lynx are interested.

I have no problem trading a minor piece for her.
But that Sky pick would require a legit star coming back.

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Speaking of Lynx and Liberty, it really sucks they aren't scheduled until July 31st. Obviously, there's a very good chance we'll see that as a Commissioner's Cup matchup again, but it would be really nice to see them earlier.
Especially since the injuries in PHX and Indy have taken some of the shine off a lot of upcoming matchups. A Liberty-Lynx on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon would be pretty sweet right about now.
Sorry if this jinxes anything, but we're setting up for a 2016 sort of scenario.
The 2 longest winning streaks in history to open a season are the 2016 Lynx (13) and the 2016 Sparks (11).
Seeing 2 teams break the record in the same season is well in play, especially given injuries on other teams, and that they don't play each other for a very long time (in 2016, Lynx and Sparks were each others' first loses of the season).
But both teams have some tough matchups on the road to 14, especially if CC and AT get back soon.

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
A lot to feel good about with both Dallas and Seattle from last night.
Even without Paige, Dallas was the better team for 2.5 quarters. Undersized, but rebounding the hell out of the ball. Dijonai was fantastic on both sides the entire game. She was the MIP last year and seems to just be getting better.
Maddy was looking good. If there are players on this team to build a team with Paige with, I think they are the 2 best candidates. Give me Paige, Dijonai, and Maddy and figure out the rest, and I'll take it.
But then Seattle got it together. Ezi finally woke up a little offensively. E-Wheezy is a damn revelation. Forget whatever you thought about her, she's found a home here. Aggressive on both ends, and holy hell does she know how to find Dom. Gabby has taken the leap. Finished this off on one leg
Speaking of Dom. Go on. Everybody just get comfortable with the way things are.
I don't know if it will be 2 years from now. Maybe 4-5 years from now. At some point, this kid will take over the league.

if she's worried about playing time, she isn't going to get much more on the lynx

As part of the new CBA, I hope they somehow outlaw the damn gray courts.
Indiana and Atlanta are such fun teams. The courts are just so displeasing to look at.
I refuse to buy Cheez-Its in protest.

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
I haven't heard anything about the investigation having anything to do with Yueru.
As far as I know, it's because she's not getting very many minutes.
Although, I'm not sure a trade destination where she could get more minutes. Maybe Dallas or Connecticut.
Any other place would be a contender looking for frontcourt depth.
Maybe Vegas, but they just made a trade involving Seattle and Yueru.
As far as the investigation goes, I've heard reports that involves "alleged profanity" by an assistant coach. Some reports say the profanity was directed at a former Seattle player. Other reports say it was directed at a player on an opposing team.
Some reports say the league isn't investigating at all.
I see USA Today had an article about Seattle's culture with no sources or real information.
https://ftw.usatoday.com/story/sports/wnba/2025/06/05/seattle-storm-wnba-complaint-investigation/84046432007/
Complete garbage "reporting".
This seems par for the course when it comes to WNBA reporting from mainstream media outlets.
They say stupid crap like "all WNBA players" are jealous of Caitlin. Or they run with unsubstantiated reports of racist Fever fans.
Really irritating.
I have no idea what's going on in Seattle behind the scenes. Apparently, neither does anybody else that's reporting on this.
There's probably not been a more well run franchise over the life of the WNBA. If some idiot reporter is going to say it's devolved into a "culture of chaos", I'd at least hope to see a shred of evidence.
Sorry. Rant over.

Re: 2025 WNBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Speaking of reported WNBA investigations........the WNBA is still investigating and preparing to rule on last year's situation where the Vegas Tourism board gave each Aces player a $100K "sponsorship".
That was a year ago. WNBA is either still investigating or they forgot about it.
Guess what the Vegas Tourism board just did? They did it again for this year!
While the WNBA is still "investigating".
"WNBA investigation" clearly doesn't mean much.
Which makes sense. It takes people and money to investigate. As far as we know "the WNBA" is basically Cathy and a couple people from the NBA's mail room that Adam thought he could spare.

More importantly, Mystics have a big win coming. Probably not tonight. But you never know.
Same can be said for the Valks (though still now word if AT is back).
