First day of biking to work, and it times out to be 30 minutes each way. There's a 5000 ft hill on my way home that was born straight from hell. If it was on my way to work I wouldn't be able to do this, I'd be a **** mess.

Going to try the 100 pushup and 200 situp thing... Just because I think it would motivate me.

Going to eventually do the tricep dip and squat ones too. Can't wait for them to add the pullup thing. :D

Here's a 20 pullups program. I haven't tried it yet.

Another personal best in the 5K. 26 mins flat.

:lift:

Probably could've pushed it a little harder too.

So DB, I bought the stuff to make the shake that you listed earlier... Where the hell do you even buy Soy Milk? :P I had to settle for skim.

I think when I start to lift again and go back to protein I am going to try out:

- 1 cup chocolate soy milk
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 serving of yogurt (chocolate, strawberry, strawberry/banana or other chocolate flavor)
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 scoop strawberry protein powder

Think I might try the pushup thing. I usually do them at various points throughout the day, but have never done a program. I can do 40 right now.

I have an exercise bike, but no treadmill... And no where to sprint when it is raining outside and/or cold.

You can do it with pretty much any exercise. You might want to try it with body weight squats or something just to kind of get the feel for it. Burpees are harder. Thrusters are really hard, especially depending on the weight you're pushing. Front squats. I used to do split squat jumps. Sprints are great and fiendishly hard after the 3rd or 4th set. Anything you can think of, really, the more muscle groups the better.

I am starting it today, but did the initial test Saturday.

When I was P90Xing I could do about 40-50. I did my test Saturday and could do 11. I was stun at the loss of strength I have had by eating like **** and not doing anything for the last 3-4 months.

Time to get back in shape, I suppose. :D

OK, this is getting a little scary. Just did tonight's 5K in 24:51. I'm sure building stamina and losing weight has a lot to do with it, but I'm also probably terrible at setting an appropriate pace.

In other newz, I already failed Day 3 on the 100 push up thing. Did 6 and half on the final set instead of a minimum of 10. Will retry tomorrow. Maintaining on the sit ups though...

Situp one seems a **** ton easier than the pushup one.

I started on Week 3, 3rd column based on my initial test. I did the the 3rd day today and failed. Like my initial thoughts, this program seems to progress too quickly. I did it late today, so maybe I was too tired. I'll try it another week to see if I progress. Otherwise, it is less of a program and more of working out every other day until you can do 100 pushups.

I had a migraine and haven't done day three yet, doing it now.
Done. I should get through week 4 OK but week 5 will likely take me 2 weeks to get through. Week 6 might take longer. I think the program will be OK if you look at as a 8-12 week thing rather than 6 weeks.

has anyone done both P90x and the Insanity workout?

I am looking to buy one of them and wanted thoughts from someone who has done both. I've heard that the p90x guy is kind of a tool, but there is more variety to the workout.
Why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed? You don't need double talk... You need Bob Loblaw.

Insanity has more cardio than P90X, P90X has more strength than Insanity. But both can be tweaked to meet your needs. P90X does have more routines that you mix in every 3 weeks or so to keep things fresher. I think Tony Horton (P90X) does a good job of mixing humor and motivation. As with any program you do you the dialogue will get repetitive over time but by then you will know the routines well enough to just turn the sound down and play your own music or whatever you wish to do.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Sounds like you're doing fine to me. Do you time your splits?

No. I run after dark on the Oak Leaf Trail, and sometimes I don't see a single person. I like just being by myself, listening to music, and thinking about things. I'm starting to really enjoy it and I don't want to ruin it by clock watching. I don't check my time until about the final half mile, just before I start my final kick.

Nothing wrong with that at all. You'll probably see your time drop a lot more if you stick with it.

Right in that 2-3 pound a week window where I was pre-injury. I totally cheated yesterday too. Had a burger, fries, and a fried chicken leg for lunch ( not fast food). Failed again on Day 3 of the push ups, and just barely made my sit up quota.

Healthy food I would strongly recommend to anyone is:

Kashi snack crackers.

They are ridiculously good. If you just eat like 15-20 of them, they are a great snack. Like 120 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, a lot of fiber, none of the poopy stuff added. :D
