AND IN HIS FIRST GAME, OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, CARIS LEVERT, DID NOT MAKE ANY SHOTS. BUT HE, THE ONE WHO SHALL DELIVER US FROM SUFFERING, AND FORGIVE BILLY KING FOR HIS SINS, MANAGED TO GET THREE STEALS & 4 REBOUNDS IN LIMITED MINUTES.

LET US PRAY THAT THE GOOD LORD CARIS, WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE, AND WILL BESTOW BLESSINGS UPON THIS WAYWARD FRANCHISE FOR YEARS TO COME. CLOSE YOUR EYES, JOIN HANDS AND LET US SPEAK HIS NAME:

Caris "The Savior" LeVert

Caris the Lord

Our Lord & Savior, JEEEEEsus Caris

Great debut. Looked like we had RHJ x 2 on defense.

How about:
Lin/iHead/LV/RHJ/Bonkers

Lockdown!

Nearly one year later, Caris LeVert returns to floor, makes NBA debut

http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/12/nearly_one_year_later_caris_le.html

Brooklyn Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said of LeVert's debut: "I loved his speed out there. Three steals and came out of nowhere. Had an energy. Love how hard he plays."

made an impression with his defense. LeVert became the franchise's first player to record three or more steals in an NBA debut since Chris Childs did so in 1994.

Awesome, defense first.

Childs!

"A foot injury? A walking boot? That’s not going to hold me down. After everything I’ve been through, I’m well-equipped to overcome challenges, believe me. Actually, wait, don’t believe me. Give me a few more minutes, and let me convince you.”

Full Highlights vs Denver

He's going to be a terror in transition. Those long strides on the fast break had Denver stumbling on defense. That little hesitation on Nurkic shows his change of direction speed against big men will be a problem.

Love the development plan of getting him acclimated to the NBA at the SG position before easing him into becoming the PG of the future.

LeVert looked good from what I've seen so far and you can see the potential, specially on defense...Maybe he could be a more polished RHJ...

That wouldn't take much. Play him at SF. Don't know why Kenny's thinking of playing him at PG. He's 6'7" and he's already got Lin, Whitehead, Skil, Foye and Dinwiddie who can play PG.

playing as a PG for 4 years at a perennial NCAA tournament college might have something to do with it...also being 6'7" might have something to do with it

My impression was he played sg/sf in college. Where did you hear he was a pg?

My impression was he played sg/sf in college. Where did you hear he was a pg?

He's always been listed as a PG/SG online. He finished his college career with 275 assists at Michigan. He averaged five assists per game in his last year. He's a combo guard like Harden/Evans/McCollum. SG/SF with point guard vision and ball handling ability.

Developing him into a point guard maximizes his potential. He's got the skill set to notch triple doubles and running our offense through him as a 6'7 point guard would take his game to another level in this new school league.

The way Kenny and Sean are looking at it is they see Lin as our present and LeVert as the future. Lin isn't a natural PG. He could always revert back into a sixth man/secondary handler if LeVert turns into a really good player in the next few years.

Why not just pair them together? (LinN'LV) (Lillard/McCollum?)

There has always been debate whether Lin is a true PG, I'm firmly in the yes camp, he was just forced to play SG at Harvard; he scores so that he can get his teammates easy shots.

Defensively, I think LV's lateral speed isn't that good and can't chase PGs around. SF isn't good, at least for now, he's too thin.

It might increase the likelihood of him getting re-injured if he plays PG. Perhaps let him focus on being a 3&D (spot up) who can pass then we shall see?

OTOH, PG/SG's not a big difference anyways in the motion offense.

Lin can play off guard but people who have followed him for years know that he's at his best with the ball in his hands running the offense. He can score but has a point guard mentality and looks to pass first and shoot second. I'm sure that Atkinson does not want LeVert to play some pg so that eventually he would replace Lin. I think it's more likely that he is just concerned with having adequate backups. LeVert can pass well but personally I don't see him so much as a pg but more of a SG or SF. I think in a year that Lin and LeVert will make a terrific backcourt but that Lin should be the main ball handler.

Agreed. Except I think what he does a lot of times is score first, to draw defense, then pass so teammates are more open. His mentality is pass first tho IMO.
I'm sure that Atkinson does not want LeVert to play some pg so that eventually he would replace Lin. I think it's more likely that he is just concerned with having adequate backups.

I don't think he is thinking full time, just possibly some:
“My gut feeling is, to make it easier on him, we’ll start with the wing position and getting that down and feeling as the season goes,” Atkinson said when asked how he’ll use LeVert. “if he could move down a position and play some 1 (point guard) down the line, I think that could be a possible evolution of his game, but right now he’s got to get the wing position down first.”

Lin can surely play some SG.
LeVert can pass well but personally I don't see him so much as a pg but more of a SG or SF. I think in a year that Lin and LeVert will make a terrific backcourt but that Lin should be the main ball handler.

Apparently he did play some SF in college, but in the NBA, he'd need to get more muscles to be able to handle that. He should be able to play some small ball 3 in the future.

Lin should age well, he's working on shooting and being a floor general/extension of the coach. There's no reason these two can't be playing together for a long time to come.

I can see this kid developing into a 20-5-5-2 player once he gets it going scoring wise. he's definitely not shy about getting the ball up.

If he and RHJ develop properly that is a nice wing duo defensively.

Ah the Childs 2 piece - one of the most underrated moments in NBA history. A moment cherished by all NBA fans who have ever experienced Kobe's wrath. Childs hit him with that McPick 2

The Savior with 7pts, 2rebs, 2-4 from downtown in his 3rd game.

I think the more he gets comfortable, the potential for a breakout game looms.

Like this kid a lot. Can not recall he has made any rookie mistakes yet. I felt he has high ceiling. Just hope his body holds up.

he's taken 1 or 2 really bad shots but he's trying to get his NBA legs under him.

he seems poised and confident. plays like a veteran as a rookie. very active on D. I havent seen alot that has impressed me offensively outside of decision making and IQ. thought he would be faster/better at getting to the rim.

again, this is just based off 2 games, so not much worth in any of it so far.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
