I'm not talking about strictly tonight, if a team loses there can always be improved upon everything. The best coaches of all time have plenty of nights where they get outschemed. I'm sure MIami fans would be critical if they lost and the ball didn't slip out of Paolo's hands/we hit FT's.. they didn't play great offensively tonight.
But the general statement of being super critical of Mose's X's and O's should mean a direct implication that our roster is capable of way better schemes and he's holding them back from a better offense.
In my mind, if people are critical of that, it means that they think that the team, with 4-6 rotation guys injured and us playing a lot of 3rd stringers, no healthy quality point guard, and people in and out of the lineup all the time.. is being held back by a bad offensive system instead of the personnel just not being very good. In my mind, it can't be both.. if you are critical of the coaching to that extent, then there should be an equal belief in the personnel being good enough to incorporate a better offense.
What we're actually seeing is coach
actively adapt to the personnel we have. Playing more three point shooters means we're shooting more threes and our threes are looking better because of that. The tradeoff is that we suck inside now because Franz isn't around.
It shows me if you give him actual volume shooters who are vets and dependable, that our offense would look a lot more smooth. Shows me if you have a vet point-forward ball-handler in Ingles, that he'll be utilized well.
The rest are sadly growing pains because we have Paolo, still learning his efficiencies, a bunch of young guys who are streaky shooters, vets who are consistently injured/can't shoot/have broken hands, and then maybe a few reliable guys.
I don't think he's an offensive genius, he's definitely middle of the pack or lower, but the cupboard is pretty damn bare for what is available most nights + two young stars learning the game.
