There's no problem with Hassan Whiteside, Chris Bosh, Luol Deng or Dwyane Wade. I have been saying this since the month of November: "we are in tank-mode." (Please, don't kill the messenger).

I'm not a part of the "The Heat are above tanking as a franchise" crowd but Wade missing the playoffs the year Lebron leaves would really put a bad taste in my mouth. Plus we suck at drafting anyway...

I'm going to use the Stock Market Analogy with Chris Bosh plain & simple he's an Apple stock that hit it's peak at $120. Is it time to buy & pay big? Or was that time when the Apple stock was younger around $50?

When a stock hits it's peak, what does one do? Sell/trade.

Whiteside is a $50 Apple.

Not sure why people want Calderon and Amare here. We can do better than that if we trade Bosh.

Still confused about our 1st rd. pick. Do we keep it if we miss the playoffs, or not?

Missing the playoffs puts us in the lottery: 1-14. (The other 16 teams are the ones in the playoffs)

We keep the pick if we are in 1-10, however there is the problem with the little balls. The way the lottery works is that a lower team can replace one of the highest-ranked teams if its ball comes up. This happened to Cleveland last year.

Therefore finishing 1-10 does not mean we get to keep our draft pick, but it is likely.

On this page look for the words "Here are the odds for each seed to get specific picks if there were no ties (rounded to 3 decimal places):" and you will find the table that shows the percentage chance you get for each pick you get for each seed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_draft_lottery

Essentially to guarantee the pick is ours we have to be one of the 8 worst teams. Essentially we would have to be worse than Indiana and better than Sacramento.

http://www.tankathon.com/

To get a player who would make it worth the pick is a lot harder. First round draft picks vary in quality and there is a lot of luck in finding one who will be a franchise changer.

DeMarcus Cousins was a #5 pick in 2010.

In the same draft these were the players picked above him:

#1: John Wall
#2: Evan Turner
#3: Derrick Favors
#4: Wesley Johnson

Picked right after him?

#6: Ekpe Udoh
#7: Greg Monroe
#8: Al-Farouq Aminu
#9: Gordon Hayward
#10: Paul George

I think I'd tank for Cousins, Paul George, or John Wall or maybe even Greg Monroe or Derrick Favors. I don't think I would for Ekpe Udoh, but some GM probably did.

It's a bit of a crap shoot. 2010 was a good draft class.

So, with respect to tanking for a pick, given the crap shoot nature of even a lottery pick, the possibility of getting nixed in the event of finishing 9th or 10th, you can look at the teams below us and decide. Can we lose more than they can?

Teams: Bottom 1-7

Minnesota (10-40)
New York (10-40)
Philadelphia (11-40)
LA Lakers (13-37)
Orlando (16-37)
Utah (17-33)
Sacramento (17-31)

MIAMI (21-29)

I guess if Wade and Bosh don't play anymore and we trade off Deng and Birdman for expirings and promote D-League players we could do it. Just remember what you're doing it for. I mean it could be for Paul George, but it could be Ekpe Udoh.

You could sign Ekpe Udoh now for next to nothing. Probably you could trade Cole for him.

I still think the Draft can be difficult and it will take longer to build this team. I'd trade with only real asset we have, Bosh, for a top young PG and fillers...Maybe some draft picks. Develop Whiteside and the other young players.

Oh ok. So now you kids want to trade Bosh? I was clamoring to trade his soft ass during the Big 3. He gets paid max money but doesn't play like a big. He was our biggest weakness during the Big 3 era.

Trade Bosh? You guys are ridiculous.

Wade can't even get on the court on a consistent basis yet eveyone wants to trash and get rid of Bosh? Wow. And I have my problems with bosh. But he's a good 2nd-option. When the cap rises his contract won't be such a problem. Think future not present.

Bosh-Whiteside is an amazing front court. Both give the other space to do what each of them do.

The problem this year like it or not is
no other than Mr. DWade. Dude is broken. When he is healthy (which isn't consistent enough) he is a top SG. Unfortunately he just can't seem to stay healthy. A real shame too because this Whiteside Wade Bosh combo is something to look forward too. Can even put Deng in there. Healthy that's a great starting 4. Just need a nice pg. Dragic would be perfect.

By the way on the bosh topic. U can tell he's frustrated Wade can't stay healthy. If u saw the last time Wade got hurt bosh kinda threw his hands up in the air shaking his head and rolling eyes as to say "again"?

I agree with a lot of what you say here.

Except bosh probably threw his hands into the air because he realised he'd have to be the No.1 guy and handle the double teams and knows that he really can't.

Bosh is a great second wheel and we should keep him because his "max" contract will make him a second or third wheel as the 2016 contracts roll out but he needs Wade healthy in order to be good enough for us.

He needs Wade... Or you know, at least slightly below average NBA talent guard to get him the ball in his places. The reason he can't handle the double teams is because he always start's with the ball near the damn three point line. His face up game is great, but not that great. How many uncontested jumpers have you seen Bosh take? Yeah, I thought so.
