Perfect world this would be the depth chart and the primary 10. We can trade in Gabe's defense for Dragic's scoring and vet savvy since he'll be protected off the bench with Dipo and Martin. Herro starts and his defensive deficiencies are masked by the prime defenders in the starting lineup. If Spo wants to get cute and go small he can move Caleb to the 4 and Duncan to the backup 3 spot if three point shooting is needed.

2 way
PG/SG Javonte Smart
PG/SG Kyle Guy or SF/PF Haywood Highsmith

This. If we land Dragic every scenario I run through my head involves either starting either Dipo or Herro and cutting Duncan completely out of the rotation. Worst case 2nd unit over Strus but Strus is the more complete player and less mentally weak imo

About to take a time machine back to last summer to tell Pat to sign Derozan over Lowry and S&T Duncan for Lonzo

Robinson starting is holding this team back. He’s just not elite anymore. Maybe he was before, but in order for small ball to work you need at least 1-2 elite shooters. And let me not get started how he’s always a mismatch for the other team every time on defense. Just keep switching until Robinson is defending you. There’s a reason for our 3rd quarter droughts when teams start picking up the defense we tend do have turd quarters. Spo needs to decide either Dipo or Herro starting. Dipo isn’t elite but that would give us so many playmakers and bam would probably be more aggressive knowing he doesn’t have to play pg to Duncan every play

The Miami Heat have assigned Victor Oladipo to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League. This is part of Oladipo's continued ramp up to a return to action. He's not expected to play in any games while with Sioux Falls.

so what's the point of it all then? :-?

So he gets 5 on 5 practice reps, Eddie. He doesn’t need game time in the G-League. He needs work.

I don’t think it’s any different to what the Warriors did with Klay from memory.

Max Strus as a starter in 9 games.

He was everything we paid Duncan to be, except more versatile offensively, better defensively, and getting paid the minimum.

Why is Oladipo in the D-League, here's your answer.
There, in South Dakota, Oladipo is expected to get two or three days of fullcourt work, his first extended such sessions since his May 13 surgery.

With the Heat having gone without a practice since a week ago Wednesday in Washington, and with no further practices scheduled until next week’s completion of the team’s weeklong All-Star hiatus, the decision was made to find Oladipo court time elsewhere within the organization.

Coach Erik Spoelstra has downplayed whether Oladipo has resumed five-on-five work during the Heat’s closed-door practices, but the Heat made clear that Oladipo is going to Sioux Falls for just such type of work.

Doncic in Heat shape would be something else.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

cant he just do that at the heat premises though? i still dont understand why do you have to move someone to get to practice without contact? in some other place

they are taking too many precautions with dipo. they told us that he was gong to be ready by november of last year and yet here we are in mid february and still taking conditioning classes or something like that

not to sound pedantic but he better come ballin' when he is cleared to play whatever timeline that is

NBA teams rarely practice during the season, They are lucky to practice twice or even once during the week. Practice is 5 on 5, it is not running drils like layup drills. Likely when NBA teams do 5 on 5s they are doing a light run to implement a new play or counter. It is not a competitive battle. That is why young players are slow to develop especially if they are not getting playing time if they are on the active roster.

G-League have consistent practices, because the primary goal of G-League is development. They are not worried about perserving a players body and they have time to do so.
