Pretty sure the Celtics are done with bigs. They have Porzingis, Horford, Kornet, Tillman, Brissett, Queta for the PF/C position. A wing is probably next.

I'm guessing the Celtics are hot after Caruso. Makes the most sense.

We just got Tillman. I don't think we're getting anymore bigs.

If we add anyone else, it'll be a wing...possibly a guard..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I wonder how much of the Tillman thing is Zarren vs Brad. Feels very much like a Zarren pick.

Those of us in the camp of wanting Brad to get a big man, we got our wish.

Tillman is the big body big man the Celts need.

I think the Celts don't need to do anything else.

Tillman's size and strength could prove useful guarding players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Julius Randle, etc. in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Brad called me for advice about trading 7 to a team who wants to over pay him to be a failed #1 in exchange for a very nice return package. Leaving aside my personal contempt for him, I told Brad that basketball-wise, he is playing better this season, & that we should see what he gives us between now & 7/1/2024 & if he helps us get #18 this June before deciding whether to move him.

I had to look it up. It's true!

It is Washington we're taling about here, and his teammates Kuzma and Poole are also in bottom 20. So part is team style/culture. And maybe they just don't give a f.

Trae Young, Steph Curry, Terry Rozier (Saddiq/Burks too!) are all near the bottom of that list.

Not saying Kispert is in the same universe as Steph, but some players are mostly playing one side of the ball. Like, Devin Vassell was known as a defender coming out of college, but he is low on the list too, perhaps from playing in lowly SA and now being a primary scorer for them.

My concern about Kispert is that Joe would not tolerate him if not stepping up on the defensive side, and rightfully so. But he may be a good value at right price for a guy that can get a bucket when buckets are rare for this team.

So, maybe this is not the year to take that chance.

Corey! Ya movin' back down the list! Whatcha got, Lonnie!

In his latest podcast, Bill Simmons had a “throwaway” line that kinda of piqued my interest. He mentioned Deni Avdija and said something like “I’m still hoping the Celtics can find a way to add him before Thursdays deadline.” It might be nothing, but I’m guessing it’s at least someone he’s heard the Celtics inquire on. Hes on a very affordable contract and can be acquired with bench pieces. If there is an u see the radar “bigger” move that comes out of nowhere tomorrow like the D.White deal is, my moneys on Avdija. I think they would be willing to offer up multiple late firsts and seconds to role the dice on the young versatile wing.

Deni Avdija is interesting. Thats a guy who probably should have been someone in the league, at least a solid rotation piece but never did because of Wizards reasons.

We can't trade him until the off-season. Brad was just messing with you.

Avdija signed an extension.

That means he's around 13m per year when his extension kicks in next season.

The Cs are prioritizing the extensions of White and Jrue, so I don't think the Cs want to pay a 7th or 8th man 13m per year.

Boston out: PP, Svi, Brissett, Banton, 1st round pick, 2nd round picks
Boston In: Lonnie Walker, Royce Oneal, Harry Giles (vibes)

What do you think? I like it for this season but not sure if its great moving past this season

What contender aside from the Celtics can and would be willing to offer 2 FRPs for Caruso? The good thing is we can get Drummond or Craig in the deal. I think it's a no-brainer. It makes a lot of sense short-term (the next two seasons is our best window) and long-term if you want to move off Jrue or White after next season.

That sounds pretty expensive for a package headlined by Royce O'Neal.

I'd be down, I think we need quite a bit of work.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad we traded for Tillman even if he can't be on the court in the playoffs due to his FT%.

Hope we see at least one trade using our TPE for a player we can keep on the court in the playoffs to help our bench depth.

I'm still not sold Pritchard or Hauser's defense honestly holds up under playoffs scrutiny so Royce O'Neal is huge, and what we ASK of the Pritchard role... Lonnie Walker would just be a pure upgrade being a much bigger body on defense capable of doing the same thing on offense for.

Leaves the Celtics with only 2 PGs.

Cs better off just getting Lonnie Walker.

Return to Boston Celtics
