guys i just came up with a great idea to penalize Gms who had excessive payrolls in 2008-2009 or will have excessive payrolls in 2009-2010 (by excessive i mean over 88M), not just by the judgng at the end i was thinking about how about they cannot sign max free agents in 2010 when they may have significant cap room.

****sorry wrong thread i realized after bcortell posted.

The Bulls waives Lindsey Hunter and Anthony Robetson. Same with whatever bird rights I have related to the two.

Milwaukee announces the following transactions:

1 - Milwaukee declines the 2009-2010 team option on Marquis Daniels, making him an unrestricted free agent.
2 - Milwaukee declines to extend a qualifying offer to Charlie Villanueva, making him an unrestriced free agent.
3 - Milwaukee renounces Bird rights to Shawn Marion, Marquis Daniels, Damon Jones, and Charlie Villanueva.
4 - Milwaukee extends a qualifying offer to Ramon Sessions, making him a restricted free agent.

As best I can figure from the Larry Coon FAQ, the QO to Sessions is $1,000,497 (the greater of his minimum salary + 175,000 or 125% of his previous salary) and his cap hold is the maximum he can be signed for under Early Bird rights, which would be the average salary or $5,847,894. Can Skorff or anyone confirm I figured that correctly?

Minnesota and the LA Clippers have announced a major trade

Minnesota trades
the draft rites to James Harden and pick #19
to the Clippers for
pick #4, pick #12
and the Clippers 2011 2nd round pick

tuff decission on trading Harden, but it was a toss up picking him at 3, moving up 7 spots to 12 will really help this team

New Jersey and the Clippers have another trade.

Clippers pick up the team option on Jarvis Hayes ($2,062,000) and trade him to the Nets for a TPE equal to his salary. Nets have cap space to absorb the contract.

Nets accept. We had to send the marginally valuable Hayes to LAC in our earlier trade for roster space and cap reasons; now that we've switched to 09-10 rosters and salaries, he returns to play some defense and shoot the occasional 3. Unless, of course, one of you contenders would like to acquire him for a draft pick or other considerations.

The Nuggets and Pistons have agreed to a trade

Nuggets trade/Pistons receive:
Steven Hunter $3,696,000
2009 second round draft pick from Oklahoma City
2009 2nd round draft pick from Washington
2010 Charlotte 1st (top 12 protected in 2010, top 10 protected in 2011, top 8 protected in 2012, top 3 protected in 2013, and unprotected in the 2014 NBA Draft).
*using $10,000,000 TE from the Marcus Camby trade

$10,000,000+$3,696,000=$13,696,000

Pistons trade/Nuggets recieve:
Jason Richardson $13,333,332

It hurts not to have any draft picks now for this year, and only a second rounder next year, but getting Richardson pushes our team over the top, and makes us a legitimate contender. We still have a couple of TE's left and will use them to try and get picks if possible, but the Nuggets now have everything in place to win a championship.

We had Richardson as a backup and he makes 13 mill this year and 14 next year, much to expensive for us here in DET. Richardson for 13 mill simply isn't worth it for us. We cut 13 mill in cap and are now paying a lot less lux tax, we are at around 80 mill. We want to be realistic with our salary and didn't want to pay all that lux tax, even though we are contending. We get two picks that are basically late 1st rounders at 33 and 34. We like the prospects here, and this gives us a boost in youth at a very cheap price, I think second rounders make less then a mill a year? Anyways we also get a 1st rounder in 2010 or 2011. We plan to use the 3 mill expiring in Hunter to grab a bench player later on. We had been looking to dump Richardson for cap relief and picks and we've accomplished that. Good luck to him in DEN.
