The GM search began this week with the Suns considering Milwaukee assistant GM Jeff Weltman (a finalist in 2010 when Blanks was hired), former Indiana Pacers GM and Arizona graduate David Morway and former Lakers assistant GM Ronnie Lester. Assistant GMs Ryan McDonough (Boston), Wes Wilcox (Atlanta) and Troy Weaver (Oklahoma City) are potential candidates too.

Indiana I think.
Good article by Coro. Looks like Hill and Barkley aren't serious candidates.

Very hard to disagree. Prefer to see him as coach, though
He had said he didn't want that job. I was thinking he would moneyball us to a chip.

Lol why are we looking at Bucks FO? Their not exactly a model franchise.
I like the other names though.

Lol Hunter has already asked the Suns to allow him to interview for Detroit's coaching position. That's hilarious. The clown even knows he's toast

Interview with John Weltman. He seems to fit the description Babby gave about their ideal GM quite well:

So where does that leave us? It leaves us, in our minds, here the Bucks, with the conclusion that analytics has a strong part of our evaluation process. Is it the end-all, be-all? No, nothing is.
I think that as with most things, the drafts have dictated to the teams, not the other way around. I think there is this idea about imposing on the draft: We are going to draft needs. We are going to draft best player.
I will tell you that all of the analytics guys that I have spoken with, including Jon, will tell you that defense is much more difficult to quantify, for a couple reasons.
For one, because the stats just are not kept. When you pick up a box score, you don't know how many deflections a guy had, or how many helps a guy had.
Then the other is, maybe there fewer things that statistically you are able to track that are objective. Those are things where we do spend a lot of time, not just with our own roster, but league-wide, and even in the draft, trying to put in extra time, and Jon has done a really good job spearheading that. It means watching a lot of video, and coming up with a pretty in-depth charting system.

I want Ryan McDonough. He should be our guy.
Read this and tell me he's not the one we should be after.

He is my favourite, too. But I am happy we have more than one good option. And also scared that Sarver and Babby may "play for the fans" and hire Barkley or Hill.

Perhaps they should hire McDonough as General Manager and Grant Hill as Assistant to the General Manager (they could even tell Grant he's Assistant General Manager, but we'd all know the truth). Seriously, they've already split a couple one-person jobs into two or more positions, why not split them up even more!

Babby pretty much dismissed the Barkley idea completely in his presser. And I don't see him hiring Hill over the other qualified candidates.
I'm all on board for the Boston guy.

David Morway have put a very good team in Indiana the last few years. He seems a good option to me.
Bucks assistant GM Jeff Weltman and former Pacers GM David Morway seem to be top candidates.

I wonder why there's no real talk of McDonough. I'm guessing it's not that the Suns aren't interested (though that wouldn't exactly surprise me), but rather McDonough isn't interested in joining this mess of a franchise, especially when there are better opportunities out there.

Re: New GM Candidates?
I think the main reason Sarver wouldn't want Barkley as GM is because he knows that Chuck is not a shy guy and will call him out on national tv whenever he does something egregious behind the scenes. Sarver doesn't want to be held accountable for his actions so expect another yes-man. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
