Trade Deng, Taj, the 20th and Charlotte pick for Lamarcus.

You're on the right track in terms of outgoing/ingoing, but Portland doesn't need Deng.

Deng goes to Cleveland, #1 goes to Portland with Taj, Rip, and picks.

Cleveland isn't trading #1 for Deng.

People keep saying this, but until it doesn't happen, I'm not ruling it out. It makes a lot of sense.

I didnt even realize how much the team would be pissed. LMA is good, but hes not incredibly overshadowing Noah in terms of value/impact. They're on par with one another. A lateral move/marginal upgrade is not worth defacing your franchise and disrupting their chemistry. Plus I could not imagine Thibs giving this trade the "okay"

Perhaps a deal isn't happening then. You might as well ask whether some combination of Deng/Gibson/Cha Pick/1sts/etc is enough. If not, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Why do they need Deng? Batum is younger and better.

I just don't understand the logic in "Hey, Aldridge is really good, but we have 4 untouchables on our roster, so take it or leave it." How do we honestly have 4 untouchables?

There would have to be a third team if Deng is involved. And I disagree Batum is better (although it doesn't matter).

No, we don't have 4 untouchables. Maybe Gibson/Butler/Cha Pick/1sts/etc. I would be totally fine including Mirotic, but he has much higher value to us than them.

Noah would have won DPOY if not for the injury. He's definitely not overrated. He's one of the top 3 rim protectors in the league. Those guys are even more difficult to find than good PF's.

We get it man, Noah is great. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't flip him for a 2nd option on offense if the opprotunity presented itself.

He is not without flaw...

At the end of the day...Noah just isn't a #2 guy an LMA is. (Again if that what it takes)

1. Noah is injured every year
2. Noah can't score at will
3. Trade Noah, you can keep Mirotic, Charlotte pick, jimmy buckets etc.
4. Great chance LMA ends up a every year all star in the east
5. LMA is outstanding in the pick and roll
6. He's a willing defender
7. Harder to find a guy like LMA than Noah

Sad to see Noah go though...it is what it is.

You cannot value being a #2 scorer more than everything else.

Portland's reportedly turned down some combinations of #1/#19/Waiters/Thompson for Aldridge. How would Taj/#1/#20/Rip be enough? And why would Cleveland help us get Aldridge?

They don't help us get Aldridge, per say. They do what's best for them and get Deng. We then take what we got from them to help ourselves get Aldridge.

That deal you referred to was Cleveland's offer for Kevin Love. I read somewhere last night from a Portland beat writer or something that between Cleveland and Chicago, Chicago had made the better offer for LMA. What that is, I don't know, but it means we're on to something. The fact that we're going after T-Rob leads me to believe that they'll take a package centered around Taj rather than Noah.

Dude I wouldn't bat an eye if Noah was dealt for Aldridge. His offensive game is so smooth. I love Noah but he kills the offense at the top of the key when he holds the ball for 5 seconds. I think moving Noah would actually be an ok move. Besides you could just draft the kid from Louisville.
