Re: Trade for Aaron Affalo ?
Yeah, the only way I'm looking to trade Afflalo is to use him and the #12 to move up. If that's not what the Hornets are looking for then that's fine, hopefully another team will be, but if not then I rather just keep him. Trading him for a pick in the 20's is a joke. While yes, having him on the team could take much needed minutes away from our young guys like Oladipo and if we take Smart/Exum, I much rather do that then do a panic trade and not get the best value possible for him.
That being said, I think a deal can be done with the Hornets. I'd take #9, 2nd rounder, Hendo(to help make up the difference in salaries), and either Zeller who I prefer or Biyambo, for Afflalo, #12, and Nelson. Hell I'd even throw Nicholson in there, especially to get Zeller. Then I'd use #9 to draft Gordon hopefully and the 2nd rounder to get Nick Johnson.

Re: Trade for Aaron Affalo ?
I think Bobcats fans just look at the numbers and don't really know anything about Afflalo. To give the take that "well somebody on that team has to score" just shows you he doesn't know anything about AA. I don't see anyone saying that about Kevin Love for some reason. Dude is a very solid STARTING SG in this league who is tough as nails, hates to lose and has gotten considerably better every year he's been in the league, and is on a great contract. I think the only way he gets traded is if we package him with #12 to move up in the 6-8 range, which is more than fair. I will give my non-working left nut to bet that he will be better than Stauskaus (bobcats' guy pick) over the next 3-4 years. But if we could land Randle-Vonleh-Smart with pick 6-8, I'd take the chance. If not, I'd be more than happy to keep him, the guy is a great fit for any franchise.

I'd consider AA + 12 for 9 + Zeller on Draft Day if a player the Magic are interested in is available at #9.
I wonder if Smart/Gordon/Vonleh/Randle will fall to the 9th pick. If so, I would do this trade!

We've been down this road and it doesn't end well.
I think CHI, BOS or OKC might be better fits for AA. CHA is a team in NBA abyss right now. Expensive vets, mediocre young talent. No real chance at winning a championship or building a legitimate competitor. Good enough for 1st round playoff exits in sweeping fashion and not bad enough to get a good draft pick. They're the one team that thinks they are better than they are right now because while everyone else tanked to aim for a high pick this year, CHA thought they were doing something good by winning. They are the joke of the NBA right now. It's not being mean, it's just the truth. Look how they draft. Cho makes no difference. He was supposed to bring his analytics but he brought nothing. He has no MKG and Zeller were awful picks. They could've drafted McLemore and wouldn't be talking about trying to get AA. They could've drafted Noel who would've been a better compliment to Al Jefferson who doesn't play any defense in the post. But they took the short armed bandit. Now they're tossing him as a throw in for trade offers and nobody wants him. Go figure. They have no vision as a team and as a fan base. They come here looking for a vet and then a few posts later say they don't want a vet. Typical reflection of their franchise. Lost.

Re: Trade for Aaron Affalo ?
I am not sure if people understand this draft's depth. From what I have read this draft is strong but only the top 6-7 spots after that it is like a normal draft.
Now since that is out of the way, Afflalo is worth more than the #9 pick. You have a seasoned player who can be an effective scorer vs. a rookie trying to fit into a team.
Where are the Hornets right now? Well they are pushing to get past the first round.
Fact is this years pick at #9 is very unlikely to create the impact to improve this team significantly.
Having Afflalo on the other hand will give more depth in scoring.
Charlotte can keep #9 pick and they can also keep a first round exit.
I am not sure other than #9 what Hornets can give for Afflalo.
Remember that Afflalo was highly considered to be picked into the All-Star games this season so he can be a #2 or #3 option in the right team.
Anyway, not sure why Hornet fans are so high on #9 over Afflalo??

I'd be interested in MKG for Afflalo + 12 but our board would crucify me for that. MKG is a sacred cow over on our board.
I actually laugh because it's so true haha
Why is that? Are people holding out hope that he will become great? I only see a solid player

That's your opinion. I'm sure plenty would argue that. I personally think he would do fine.

If Afflalo were worth anything near a lotto pick, he'd be gone already.

I am sorry but isnt this site called realgm? You dont want us gauging value of trades and players what do you want us to do? Because we have to bend to your every whim *sarcasm
I don't see any REAL GMs on here, so all this conjecture between fans is pointless. None of these deals would ever happen, I guarantee it. But have fun, kiddos.

I think that the most we can offer with respect to the draft, is the #24 pick and any combination of player not named: Kemba, mkg, zeller, big al.
OK, so we would get nothing out of this trade then lol..
Also, Michael Jordan is your owner. Stupid things can always happen. No offense..

I dont remember if it was this board but I know a lot of Sacramento fans were down for their #8 and filler for our afflao and #12.
Which is much better trade considering that guarantees us Randle or Gordon

Re: Trade for Aaron Affalo ?
why should orlando trade afflalo for anything that won't help this team? 24th pick for at minimum an above average starting 2 guard is a joke. a bunch of junk on top of that means nothing
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Re: Trade for Aaron Affalo ?
Is AA worth the #9? Probably not in terms of perceived potential, but he's guaranteed to make Charlotte much, much better than anyone available at #9 could next season. The only guys who could potentially develop to have more of an impact are Stauskas, LaVine and maybe guys like Saric and Capella.
So what's more important to you, the gamble that you get someone who can potentially put up 20ppg one day, or a guy who can?
As a Magic fan, I'd only trade AA if we got a pick and someone we really want had slid to that point. (Smart, Vonleh, Randle, Gordon).
The only other piece on Charlotte that interests me is Zeller, but I'm not sure I'm interested enough to part with AA for him. We could probably find someone that good with the #12 pick anyway.

Oh come on man

Skin wrote:Expensive vets, mediocre young talent.
Oh yeah... We pay an All-star caliber Center, that is consider as one of the best post player in the league 13,5M/Y ...The next most payed player is Gerald Henderson at 6M/Y who will most probably be moved this summer.
Regarding our young core... I won't judge you since you probably never saw one of our games, but It would be unfair to say that Kemba-MKG-Zeller-Biyombo are "mediocre".
You also probably estimated our young players' talent based on data sheet (

Skin wrote:Good enough for 1st round playoff exits in sweeping fashion and not bad enough to get a good draft pick
Yeah.. .Maybe, you got that part correct, however... We got to play in the playoffs, and got our young players some short but good experience. AND our no-difference-maker Cho guy still managed to get us a top 10 pick in a loaded draft. (With a bit of luck I have to admit).
To sum-up the situation of the "abysmal" Hornets, we have the opportunity to draft a very good SG with a possible bright future in the league....
AND 20M$ to spend in the free agency, (which is a lot I think right?)
Basically, we have space to grow and develop with our young core and next draftees, we have money to make a big move in next year's free agency. We are not the joke of the league anymore.
And just to say, I came here to ask what was the value you were giving to Afflalo, since you are clearly in a rebuilding process, with Oladipo and probably Exum next year. Afflalo was maybe not in your future plan, and I was just wondering if we could get him cheap, and maybe involving a future first round pick.
I did not came here to value the performance of your franchise, so don't do so with mine.
Thanks.

Yep. He already is the biggest part of our defense. And a lot of people of our board do thing he'll become at least a solid player since he is still very young, and has a lot of slashing ability. His problem for now is that our coach doesn't want to involve him in the offense, which is a mistake IMO. Wait&See...
