If Embiid played last year, or was fully healthy I would understand some backlash on picking Okafor. But for all the praise Embiid's upside gets, his long term health is a SERIOUS issue. Insuring him as our foundation building block, with another elite blue chip big man is Not the bad thing.

As long as your ok with a 7-10 year rebuild.. Sure, you can draft and hope. Might be better to try and build with some resemblance of balance. The Sixers roster right now looks so far away from contention now it's not even funny. If all 3 are healthy next season, Is Noel a backup? Is he being traded? For what? What are you really going to get for Noel on the open market? Marcus Smart? I understand the take the BPA route, but I think Hinkie has been overthinking things, been too cute, and now his roster is a mess.

LOL really?? Too cute??? How is he being too cute when he goes BPA?? Thats cute? Being cute is taking a kid thats rated lower on your board just for fit

He picked a player who they didn't even work out.. I don't think they were prepared for it.

Either way, it all depends on Embiid. Even if he's healthy, you're bringing one of the bigs off the bench.. Unless you trade one for 75 cents on the dollar, which is a positive I suppose.

The rebuild has no time limit, if it takes 5-10 years so be it, actually I believe the Sixers will always be looking to improve, just like the Rockets.

Honestly, If Embiid doesn't like the pick, get healthy and get on the floor. Hard to 100% build around a guy with question marks on his health.

Exactly. How are people mad with getting the consensus #1 pick for most of the season?

Because now we have 3 of them and apparently that's too many.

Haha... there's no reason to draft for fit when you are rebuilding.

why..... oh why..... did we not either just take Mudiay or trade down for Mudiay..... He might be the best player in this draft... we could have had an electric big PG to play with our twin towers of Joel and Noel ... plus a possible trifecta of picks next year and Dario Saric. Now, we're another year full of laughinstock and wait to see how Hinkie screws up our future in the next 12 months

How do we know Embiid even plays this year? Or ever?

If he was healthy, I can understand it. But he's not.

Towns was obviously consensus #1 this year

I still think we're going to get Russell.

Lakers are using him as leverage to get their 2016 1st back, or protected more. They take the player they know we want, they know we'll be forced to take the player they want.

I predict a Russell/Okafor swap in the next few days.

I real issue, and possibly tragedy, if we don't trade Okafor is that Embiid's foot is a bigger deal than initially expected. The fact that we aren't trading back into the first round is making this draft even more unbearable with that in mind.

Kupchak is already on record that they took the better player between the two, in their eyes, in Russell. If Shaq, Kareem, or Wilt were available, we would have taken him.

But Okafor is not that guy, supposedly, according to Kupchak. So no, I don't foresee a trade, at least between these two teams.

Most of the year. It took Towns a while to secure that distinction.

We talked about this last year, he may never be and that's not including his foot injury.

Id fully expect Kupchak to say "were passing on an elite big man" for a flashy combo guard with swag. lol

I completely love the pick given the circumstances which unfolded in the draft with teams ahead of us... I love Oak... while he's ours that is... I will hate him if/when he's trading his uniform in for the Green or Gold.

I think it's because they think Okafor isn't that "elite," or it could be options in Free Agency.. Who knows. Okafor has the potential to be an All Star, no doubt.. But he's not going to be dominant, I don't think.

Honestly, I think it's more of "fit" issues. Where I think if they can get either LMA or Love thru the FA. They'd have a solid line-up of..

Russell
Kobe
Young
Randle
LMA?
