Read The God Delusion - you would enjoy it :D

I dont really like reading in itself. Reading the Bible is hard enough for me its hard for me to keep interested but I like it. I would like to read that book you request and understand the Atheist mind.I like The Bible, teaches in hope and that your life matters and there is a reason for everything. Atheist teach that there is no hope and that your life means nothing. IF there is no God and there is no heaven what are you "Atheist " living for? What is the point? sorry for going off but i will just leave at that. I dont wanna start a big debate.

To learn. To try to leave the world a slightly better place than when you came. You don't have to follow a religion to accomplish that.

A Christian goes to eternal hell for farting in public, an atheist (which I'm not) doesn't. Simple logic, it will help you.

Sartre was prescient.

Look at it this way, if the Knicks still exist in the distant future year 20145, it means JD & the Straight Shot failed to destroy the franchise.

I figured with your s/n, you'd be interested in this thread.

I'm reading;

Carrie by Stephen King
Wool by Hugh Howey
A Silo Story: First Shift; Legacy by Hugh Howey
The Host by Stephanie Meyer (lots of regret for this purchase, lols)

Wool and Legacy are my post-apocalyptic books. Lately I've been stuck between reading school books and unfortunately, fan fiction -> I'm one of those people that have a preference for reading Manga or books instead watching TV shows or movies. I was reading Naruto manga and wanted to see what the next chapter summary was that didn't come out yet. Somehow stumbled on a fan fiction site because of it. My god it's like being stuck in the Twilight Zone.

I would just like to thank all of you for not posting any Malcolm Gladwell books in your list. Great suggestions. I'm checking out The Martian.

Also, I'm no longer looking for science books, but I am looking for suspense thrillers. If you guys have any recommendations on that, hook it up! :D

It is so far a brilliant read.

Fantastic Book! I plan on re-reading it in the near future.

Fun story (at least I think so) - I started reading that book a couple of days before Hurricane Ike hit Houston. I ended up reading it in the nights following the storm by candlelight. Yeah, I could have used the generator, but I was trying to conserve that, plus something about reading that particular story in that time period by candlelight seemed very appropriate!

The Alienist, by Caleb Carr.

The subject matter can be a bit disturbing at times, but Carr's attention to historical detail is only surpassed by his storytelling. It takes place in New York City around the turn of the 20th Century. If I enjoyed it as much as I did I can only imagine that a native New Yorker may have an appreciation as a local that I wouldn't possess.

I read this book about 5 years ago, and really liked it. I'm a native and have lived in 3 of NY's boroughs. So it was a great story of a time when my grandmother was born. I'm glad to see somebody else liked it too.

I've got The Martian on my phone to read soon (long subway commute is great for reading). I also like Nostrand Avenue because I started out in life 3 blocks from there (closer to Flatbush). Also, I read one book by Gladwell and wasn't certain I could believe what he wrote.

Currently on the 5th book, Midnight Tides, in The Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Epic fantasy.

The sequel was very good too. Came many years later but, it was worth the read.

Almost finished with Operation Nemesis by Eric Bogosian. Worth checking out if you haven't heard about it.

"7 books every middle-age person should read." Some interesting selections.
