Sacramento be fortunate if either of Fox or Buddy hit Kyrie's level.

Forget Kyrie, Fox and Buddy would be lucky to reach Drederick Irving level.

The chances of Fox being better than Irving is slim to none. A 25 year old top 15 player in the NBA who averaged 27 PPG in the finals on elite efficiency is worth way more than Fox + scraps.

Easy no for the Kings. Dude has two years left on his contract, while we just acquired a reliable Hill to go with our SGs (Hield,Bogdanovic), while next year we still look to be in the lottery

It's an erroneous report. Knicks have nothing on their roster if any value other than the overrated Porzingis, he's not going there either

How is Porzingis overrated when every team in the league would love to have him?

Still can not beat the top teams in the West. In fact no guarantees Kings will even make the playoffs. So why give up on the young players ?

In a couple of years, Robin can say bye and Thank you Kings.

You know nothing about the players they drafted if you think Jackson and Giles have low ceilings.

Arguable and not the issue. Do you guys have a hard time understanding? He has one year after this and there is no confidence he would re sign with the Kings.

Can't be scared. CWebb said he would not sign and it ended up being the best move ever.

You know the hardest part about getting 3 all stars? Getting the first one.

Kings better off keeping what they've started building and doing it the right way

Why would they trade for someone who won't be on the team after two years, when next year will be a rebuild year, and Hill has as good of advanced stats?

It becomes a discussion if somehow the Kings felt good about him long term, which is unlikely. Other teams actually in the hunt for Kyrie have a belief he will re-sign

I hope that the Kings build with Fox. But they can offer Kyrie an extra year, thus an extra $30-$40 mil.

Did the Cavaliers decline the Kings offer?

People missing a huge reason this is different to the PG and Butler scenarios. The Cavs are still contenders, if they keep him they have another title run. If the Pacers kept PG they make the playoffs, get knocked out and then lose him for nothing. This means the Cavs have way more leverage than the Pacers did. They're still going to trade him but if they don't get an offer they like they at least have the option to refuse.

Kyrie wants to be the star of a team, problem is he's not a superstar. What happens if the team he goes to signs or drafts a better player than him? Does he leave and go to another team to be the star?

Do you think Kyrie will be traded by Cleveland

Post#73 » by nbafan38 » Tue Jul 25, 2017 2:19 am

Before the start of next season? Maybe it's just me but I honestly question some of this as being drama, it almost sounds too dramatic between Kyrie and Lebron to be real.

I would be shocked if he traded at this point. The time to trade him was before Paul , Butler , and George switched teams.

HotRocks34 wrote:Here is a near-direct quote from Zach Lowe from his podacast today. It's not a perfect quote, but it's almost exact. Lowe says this starting around 37:00 into the podcast. These are essentially my exact thoughts on Kyrie and his prospects (although to be fair, Lowe says Kyrie can evolve over time):

Podcast link
http://www.espn.com/espnradio/playPopup?id=20148555

"if you just put him in the Russell Westbrook situation last year where it's all about him, or even James Harden's situation, I think he'd do well and I think his teams would do 'ok.' But I think 'ok' is about all there is. Because he's an awful defensive player. He's all right when he tries...His passing to me is fascinating because I think he has the ability to be a good passer...but...he's never struck me as playing with the sort of timing and geometric creativity of James Harden...but people who know him and who work with the Cavs say that (great passing) is in his game, it's just not the way that he wants to play. He wants to score, he wants to make tough shots. He wants to do his 9,000-dribble moves...and he doesn't have the physical sort of...I mean, Russell Westbrook to do what he did over 82 games was unbelievable, and I don't think Kyrie Irving can physically do that. But, players change... I do think his game could evolve, where he just becomes a better all-around player...but, if he thinks he can go out there and shoot 26 times a game and everything is about him all the time, I do think he's in for a rude awakening."

Summary:

- Kyrie isn't Harden (although maybe he has some of that potential) ------> And D'Antoni won't be his coach
- Kyrie isn't Westbrook
- Kyrie wants to play Iso/Shoot Ball rather than pass more
- Kyrie likely in for a big wake up call if he goes to another team and becomes The Chuck Master

Implied but not directly stated:

- Kyrie isn't LeBron

Can the current version of Kyrie be Damian Lillard? Yeah, probably. Can he be John Wall? Maybe.

Is Kyrie, at his current development level, likely to be a lot more than that?

Probably not.

Is a Kyrie-led team likely to be any kind of threat to make the Finals?

Probably not.

So that's about where we're at, from my perspective.

Thus, Kyrie is giving up a sure-fire trip to the Finals next year, it would seem, to get a trade done from a team while he still has two years left on his current contract. Just to get away from LeBron. To a team we don't know (Kyrie not in control of where he goes), and possibly into a situation where making the Finals is not realistic and any long playoff run is probably also not realistic.

This is what the situation seems to be, and this (including the timing of it) is why people are asking: "What is Kyrie doing and how does Kyrie view himself as a player?"

here is the simple math. when you are a top5 guard and feel you are a top player(mainly because your 1on1 skills are unmatched making you virtually unstoppable) you simply want to express yourself. basketball is the only team sport that allows individual expression to exist. if you are a STAR of this magnitude you don't enjoy playing with Lebron because Lebron is such a seismic player you have to play his way hby his mere physicalness in the game. Lebron's presence moves all the pieces to the side - you WILL play his way. there are very few duncans or durants in basketball. kyrie feels he is not alloed to be 100% of himelf around lebron

I'm almost certain the cavs are waiting on Minnesota to make the call for Kyrie in exchange for Wiggins.

Just a matter of will the wolves do it. The stage has been completely set for it to the point that it seems obvious.

- cavs no longer need a PG due to the Rose signing
- cavs have requested a "blue chip young player" in exchange for Kyrie
- with Kyrie requesting a trade cavs need more scoring

Wiggins almost makes too much sense

I think so. He's young, signed for 2 years and has one of the highest commercial appeals in the league. Basketball aside,I'm almost certain some team will make a grand offer for him for business reasons.
