Most interesting thing in the article is that Russ has generated more corner three opportunities than anyone else but Bron. If only we hit them at an acceptable rate.

Just looking at what they've done since January, the jazz are a scary first round matchup. They sound like a team that maxed out their talent, and won with effort, consistent defense and cohesion, pretty much the opposite of OKC. If that's the case, im going OKC in 5. I haven't really seen Utah at all though. Anyone watched a decent amount of jazz games? What have they been doing?

Yeah, especially because it feels like we are beyond horrible at creating those shots. But maybe it's just our inability to hit them: 8th in attempts, 24th in shooting %. :-?

Looking at the players individually, it's not like they have been ass though:

George: 20.3 % of the team's attempts; 44.0 3P%
Patterson: 12.0 % of the team's attempts; 39.2 3P%
Ferguson: 10.1 % of the team's attempts; 41.9 3P%
Abrines: 9.6 % of the team's attempts; 37.3 3P%
Grant: 9.4 % of the team's attempts; 25.9 3P%
Melo: 9.1 % of the team's attempts; 33.9 3P%
Brewer: 8.8 % of the team's attempts; 38.9 3P%
Felton: 6.8 % of the team's attempts; 47.6 3P%
Huestis: 6.8 % of the team's attempts; 26.2 3P%
Russ: 3.4 % of the team's attempts; 19.0 3P%
Dre: 3.1 % of the team's attempts; 31.6 3P%

George+Patterson+Ferguson+Abrines+Brewer+Felton have combined for 68 % of our corner 3s and have shot 41.6 % on them. If only the rest of the team wouldn't have been so trash at it. :banghead:

League wide on a team level: 39.2 %. We're at 37.2 %.

The best way to describe the Jazz is a "Spurs light"'. They run the same plays and have the same approach to a game. Rubio however is not as good as Parker (used to be), Ingles just isn't Ginobili, Mitchell can't be LaM just yet, etc...and Snyder isn't Pop but he is getting there.

On paper, the Jazz simpy haven't got the talent to match OKC but then again, on paper we probably should not be the 5th seed in the West either.

It should be Okc in 4 or 5 but the longer the series take, the more the Jazz will like their chances.

Thanks for the perspective. Yeah based on individual matchups OKC should have them, but that's assuming OKC ups their game collectively as I've expected them to come playoff time. It's a fairly big if, and I agree if the jazz can extend this series I'll be sweating it as an okc fan.

Am I reading that right, Brewer has taken almost 9% of the teams corner threes for the SEASON? And Patterson only 12%? I know Brewer started off pretty hot but has since cooled, not to mention he has barely been with the team for six weeks. Patterson has got to get more looks and more shots up from distance in this series in my opinion.

Yes. Patterson has shot 74 corner 3s in 82 games, Brewer has shot 56 corner 3s in 18 games. That's one of those things where a team wide delusion gets the better of them: For whatever reason, they think that a 31.0 % career corner 3 shooter should be taking four 3s per game, while their better shooters sometimes go without getting a good shot throughout a whole game.
But of course that is also dependent on playing time: Patterson is playing 16 minutes a game with a 10.8 USG% while Brewer is playing 29 minutes a game with a 14.4 USG%.

Brewer obviously has the green light and I would assume the same goes for Patterson. The biggest difference I see is that Brewer has no problem firing away while Patterson has been extremely passive and turns down shots regularly.

I would argue that there is a clear difference when it comes to certain players. You can see it in the way they look for them and how those players behave on the court. They want Ferguson to take every 3 he can get his hands on. Patterson: Not so much.

Looks like brewer is in, abrines is out. Hopefully he at times goes big with either grant or patterson, sliding George to the 2, instead of giving all the minutes to ferguson/huestis. If Gobert is completely shutting off the lane they should see how it looks with patterson at 5, maybe grant at 4 while melo rests or something to pull Gobert from the lane. Curious to see how effective adams is against him.
