If you think that 12% difference is important, remember that the Lakers have roughly a 7.5% chance of getting a better draft pick than the Knicks in the lottery.

Personally, I would say that NY is less dysfunctional but they also have a less bright future. Their team is awful. Even if they grab Durant they are still worse than LA. Its going to require them getting multiple good players and the Lakers completely screwing up for them to jump over LA this offseason.

Correct New York shares the highest odds of getting Zion at 14% with the suns and cavs. New York currently has a 52%.1 chance to get a top 4 pick and can’t do worse than 5. Lakers odds of getting number 1 sit at 2.0 and 9.4 at a top 4 pick. All according to tankathon.com

Both teams make me cringe.

And I wish Kyrie didn't have to be tied to both just because he is friends with KD and made up with Lebron. Kyrie is friends with a lot of people.

Quattro wrote:Lol. How the heck did 10 people actually vote for the Knicks? I mean, sure the lakers are dysfunctional but at least they’ve got Lebron and some half decent talent on their roster. Before they got hit by injuries mid way through the year, they were playing well.

Other than a couple of seasons where they made the playoffs, the Knicks have been a raging dumpster fire for a decade and have nothing other than their annual prayers that a free agent will defy logic and sign there. That’s without even mentioning the fact that they have the worst owner in the NBA.

Allow me to apologize to the Knicks organization, James Dolan and Knicks fans everywhere for my clearly erroneous opinion from the other day. Magic Johnson set me straight yesterday.

James Dolan long time failures makes the lakers the obvious choice.

The Knicks have a loooooooooooooooong way to go unless they find 2 star players and I don't see anything more than 1 star and 1 all-star (Middleton/Walker/etc) at best.

Some other young "talent" most of which will probably wash out of the league. Future picks from the ZInger trade. Potential to even not compete too much next year but perhaps the year after.

Actually **** all that they have mario hezonja. Ride or die with Super Mario!

Knicks have the worst record in the league, a solid rookie and cap space and that makes them a potential dynasty? Please.

Just as possible is they miss Zion, the rookie they get is a disappointment, they can’t attract big names in FA so over pay some mediocre players, and they are once again stuck in mediocrity just like the last decade +

Of course, the Knicks are the posterboys for dysfunction in the NBA. But by definition, a Lebron James team will never be "stable" so you have to go with that.

Welp

Pretty tough one even before the Magic drama.

Lakers - The post Dwight Era, is the first time the Laker have had to rebuild in a league that has made it much harder to leverage being a large market team to get the players you want. They likely cannot repeat the way they built the showtime/Kobe/Shaq/Pau lakers; it'll be interesting to see how they adjust their historic strategy. They are starting to look a lot like the Knicks who have struggled to build a competitive team consistently and have sky high expectations from the local/national media. (Thought this before the Magic fiasco.)

Knicks - I don't really think anything needs to be said, but they've been surprisingly shrewd lately. But there is still time for them to trade for a player they can just sign as a free agent.

Damn, the 3 biggest cities in the USA are rocking the 3 worst run basketball organizations. That's insane and overall bad for business.

Thank god the Clippers were sold, and that Toronto (3rd largest market) has strong management.
