All I care is that Nwora gets drafted by Heat and get a new haircut. Somebody please be his friend and tell him cut that chit

In all honesty, I'm not really hyped about this draft pick because I do not expect them to keep it.

I'm sure that we'll keep it because we're going all in next year.

6-9 and 270 pounds with a 7-2 wingspan. Has the ability to hit 3s and defend the rim. Officially my favorite pick for the Heat right now.

This is shaping up to be a redshirt year for Okpala. Maybe they trade the pick and he's viewed as the "first rounder" next year.

I just expect the Heat to make a deal by the end of the summer and using that pick in the deal.

I’m thinking this pick gets sent out in a deal for a win-now player, and then trade for a 2nd to get the player they’re targeting.

We're preserving cap space for 2021 so that doesn't make sense.

Really like this kid. Could see him becoming very good.

Couldn't find video specifically of him against his ranked opponents (Baylor and Gonzaga). Had strong games against both. Has to watch out for fouls. Stats don't show it yet, but his jumper is pretty, FT% is excellent, so he should be able to hit threes with efficiency eventually.

I can see that Giannis fits, but I can’t see the links. It may be that the internal development and adding a good find in the draft is enough incentive, but I’m not sold. Giannis is Milwaukee and his star is this bright there - leaving to Miami, when we’ll be a real competitor. He’s not going to want to take the same PR hit that KD took, without a clear link to player(s) on the team. Heat have become less hated, and it wouldn’t be the same as Bron, but we’d go back to being one of the most polarising teams in the NBA. Right now the Bucks aren’t, and Giannis isn’t actually hatable.

Say we get Nwora and he works out as a good role player. Then we’re looking at:
Nunn
Butler/Herro
Robinson/Winslow/KZ
DJJ/Nwora
Bam/Silva
Yeah, big hole at PF/C and a need for a back-up PG. Giannis would make us the early team of the 20s, and depending on the development and Micky’s desire to pay the tax, and it might make a dynasty that lasts longer than the big-3 Heatles.

Edit: my point was that while it’s a great dream, we don’t have the same inside word we had with Bron. I think Pat will be less patient now, as we’re clearly a top-4 team in the East as is, and with a tonne of salary ballast.

Were there any obvious links with Paul George and the Clippers? How about Jimmy Butler and the Heat? We don't even know how the Heat and Bucks will look like next season. Also, Giannis isn't the only top 20 player that could be a free agent in 2021. You don't only preserve cap space when you have a high chance of getting a star player, you can also preserve it when you have a decent chance.

I'm not against trading for a star player, I'm against trading for players that aren't stars and have contracts that don't expire before 2022. Why settle when you could do much better? Give me Paul George over Gallinari.

The Clippers play in LA, that was the obvious link. That said I think we can appeal to anybody who is about winning.

I’m all for Aron Nesmith. Nothing wrong with another great shooter that can defend.

Saw you post about him in another thread. Haven't seen him at all. Only focused on bigs at the moment. He's mocked to go fairly low. What stands out to you?

Should be able to buy into the 2nd round with Philly having a bunch of picks.

Arizona vs Oregon on in a few minutes. That's worth tuning in for.

The kid can flat out shoot. Can move through screens and shoots it from NBA distance. He has tools to be a good defender. I see what the staff has done with Duncan Robinson and I can’t help but think what they can do with a guy who can shoot it at a high % but actually has good athleticism and defensive tools. I honestly see some Klay type potential in his game.

Here is an article on him from The Stepien last year before he mastered his shooting stroke.

https://www.thestepien.com/2018/12/22/first-impressions-aaron-nesmith-just-guy/

By the time draft season comes I think he’ll start shooting up draft boards.

This draft has a few good PGs/Bigs we could draft with a late 1st(which is a good thing). ESPN latest mock draft below.

Is it just me or does Paul Reed seem significantly underrated in this draft.

I know he's a JR, but he's one of those late bloomers that was a 6''5" wing prospect coming out of high school.

I know DePaul has not had avery difficult schedule, but he is leading them to a solid record.

He's averaging 16, 11, 2, 1.9, 3.2. He also ranks #16 overall in both BPM and WS, and #9 in defensive rating. And while he's shooting only 29% from 3 this year, he shot over over 40% last year (both years with limited attepts).

Either way he's an 80% FT shooter and has shown potential in his outside game. I see him as a good complement to Bam if he can develop his shot.

Most mock drafts have had him as an early second rounder until recently. Even though I've noticed him moving up on some boards.

Anyone with more insight got any thoughts on him.
