Bosh was better at literally everything except posting up. Which is now looked at as the wrong way to play today.

I'm not. It's not like they won those championships easily.

They would've won easily if Bosh was better than LMA

I feel Aldridge is better than Bosh as well, but fit matters. Particularly when the gap between players isn't that large which in this case I don't think it is.

You're right. But I honestly fail to see how Bosh fit the Heat while Aldridge wouldn't, especially considering Bosh didn't exactly "flourish" in his role. It's not that high a bar for someone with Aldridge's talent.
FTR I don't really regard either one of them as that much better than the other. They're both similar enough and not polarizing enough that I don't care enough to rank them. If I had to draft one of them I'd pick a name out of a hat and be happy with the result either way

Yes, guys like Anthony Davis & Jokic, and even wings like Lebron & Kawhi, clearly have no idea how to play great basketball with their stupid post ups

This is the issue with the basketball HOF. There is a clear difference between a LMA/Bosh and a Dirk/KG. One group is a group of extremely good basketball players while the other group is hall of fame players.

So by the current HOF standards, yes LMA is going to get in (especially if Bosh gets in this summer or whenever he is up). But no I dont look at him as a HOF player.

I would love if the NBA created its own NBA HOF and we saw a stricter limit to get in. Yes I know that would never happen, just a dream.

Nope.

He’s an All Star not a HOF. And that’s all that he should be remembered for and that’s still an amazing accomplishment

But the bar should be high. There should be levels to it. I also think DeRozan and Lowry are not HOF either and should be considered on that borderline.

I think Blake is one of the ones who is borderline but still has a chance to get over the hump if he were able to play a major part in a championship before his production completely disappears

But I also think a lot of guys who are already in shouldn’t be.

I'm talking shaq type post ups clown. Ya know where a big man plants his a$$ down low and gets the ball. Not post ups at the free throw or top of the key

A post up from the extended block or even the elbow is still a post up.
In fact that's a majority of Aldridge's post ups. He gets pushed out, too.
He still scores. That's the point.

Their numbers are a wash.

Can't knock Aldridge for not winning championships by joining a de facto dream team.

So it comes down to the peripherals.

Advanced numbers, they again match nearly evenly.

So, the only difference comes down to extraneous accolades.

Bosh is a 11x All-Star. Aldridge a 7x All-Star. But Bosh played in the weaker East. Aldridge played in the West when it was much more stacked than the East.

Bosh made 1 All-NBA team (2nd Team x1). Aldridge made 5 (2nd Team x2, 3rd Team x3).

Bosh never advanced his team in the playoffs as a first option. Aldridge did.

They're essentially the same player with same numbers. But Aldridge always played harder competition and was always the first option on a team playing in the West at a time the West was at it's most dominant. Bosh couldn't cut it as a first option and enjoyed his only playoff successes as the 3rd guy on a team with two Top 5 players at the exact time the East was at it's absolute weakest.

If Bosh gets in, Aldridge definitely gets in.

But don't those elbow post ups result in a lot of long range 2's which is now considered not the most efficient way to play? Which was sort of my whole point in the beginning. Aldridge does 1 thing better then bosh and its considered inefficient in today's game.

I think he'll get in. If he had a title as a big contributor on a team he'd definitely be a lock.

I don't think so.

Mediocre individual stats and no team success.

First comp I thought of was Walt Bellamy (who is in the Hall of Fame):

Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Re: Is LaMarcus Aldridge a Hall of Famer?

I would have previously said no.

But the bar has been lowered.

For me, this started with Mitch Richmond. If you are going to honour every 'very good' player who had long, consistent careers then Aldridge is a lock.

I personally don't believe Mitch and Yao deserve their spots. But that's only two, so I guess they've got them pretty right so far.

The test will come in the future, will they simply induct everyone with 20ppg, or 20/10 like stats even though stats are inflated in this era?

I do not so much care about an NBA title if he were to go mercenary for his last couple of seasons, but an olympic gold medal on the resume sure would help. Is there any chance of Lamarcus being on the next American men's roster? He totally should be.

If just making a US team roster helps your Hall of Fame chances, i don't know what to say, that's kind of ridiculous. Maybe him being a really good player the next several years could help him get in instead, I would hope.

He is a really good player, I would like to see him get in, but its not the Hall of Really Good.

Bosh seems like he's better defending the perimeter, and had more mobility. Which was important in Miami's switch heavy defense. I could just be imagining this or it could just be recency bias seeing older Aldridge. I don't really follow either of their games much either.

Bosh is a 2 time champion, Aldridge is not on that level.

As the third option, with arguably the greatest player of all time. LMA never had that luxury.

Put in perspective, because they were the third option on championship teams you believe Tony Kukoc, BJ Armstrong, and Horace Grant should be hall of famers?
