When all the coaches are dressed the same they look like counter line staff in a fast-food chain. Fries with your burger?

When they wore suits or blazer's they had more presence as leaders. Now it's a rec-league vibe. They could express their personalities more. I remember the electric blue outfit Nick Nurse wore the night of the Craig Sager tribute.

I hope the league changes back.

Suits and blazers have been around for over 150 years. Is there not some progression in a 21st century away from uniform dress codes?

Will you be wearing a quarter zip pullover to the next wedding you attend, or a suit and tie? (or jacket and tie)

Now the league making serious money they have started to relax things a bit.

Suits are becoming extremely outdated now.

Suits were worn by coaches long before the Iverson inspired dress code of the 90s, and ever since. Suits have always been worn by coaches until the bubble.

Well not by every single coach every game, but most.

Because this topic is O/T, and also the only other thread I randomly post on is the Official General NBA Discussion thread which involves all teams.

The only people i could see being in favor of this are Tailors and Dry Cleaners.

IF you're a coach, why in the world would you want to wear a suit to the game?

I will say though, watching that Iona Alabama game a couple weeks ago. It was cool to see Rick Pitino still wear a suit out on the sideline. Alabama's coach wearing Vans sneakers and a polo looked weird in comparison. Pitino just looked more official/professional I guess.

But overall though I think the rule change is for the better. Since most coaches don't want to wear suits (based off the voting the NBA coaches did).

Thibodeau looks objectively better in a suit. Actually, most men do.

Ya, I hate wearing suits, but direction from coach A will not be as effective as direction from coach B

To each their own - I'm more function over form, so I'd opt for comfort and practicality over style. I think a suit is overkill for a sports coach.

Agreed with OP.

Definitely prefer suits. I don’t hate the casual look but you’re on TV. The Suit look will forever be a timeless look for professionalism.

Even a business casual look is good

Where did suits even originate from? Seems like an outdated concept that needs to be abolished everywhere.

The feeling you get wearing a nice tailor made, form fitted suit, I just can't compare it to anything else. Its like saying being well groomed is an outdated concept that needs to be abolished.

Hell yeah brother. NBA coaches should really embrace the future and just wear one piece Starfleet uniforms.

Suits never lead to anything bad. What you have to watch out for is 100% polyester clothing and 30 year old white men getting their hair permed.

When you see that, you know that Disco is making a comeback, which is the first sign of the apocalypse.

people should be able to dress in whatever they want to dress. The concept that a suit makes you look better is outdated.

Suits are basically a form of classism in 2021.
