LAL nabs another low key Wizards player with big upside. Rui and Bryant were the two players I felt should be playing for the Lakers.

I like this trade for the Lakers, even if Rui isn't an actual floor spacer to 3pt line. Nunn himself is bad salary so it would cost a 2nd round pick to dump him. The trade can essentially be seen as two 2nds for Rui, which is solid value for Lakers.

So a younger Kuzma with all of his flaws for a non-rotation players and 3 second round picks.

We good. Thanks Wizards! We gave you Kuz doe.

He hasn't paid Mozgov or Deng $60 million yet.

No he just turned a championship team into a lottery team. While having LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster.

Oh I mean yeah he definitely sucks, but Magic and Cupcake sucked pretty hard too.

Folks, Nunn is one of the worst players in the league and just missed a whole year for a bone bruise. Three seconds sounds steep until you consider that there were other bidders with 2 seconds. And that the Lakers bought a 35th pick last year for cash and a 2028 second and turned that into Max Christie.

If they offer Rui an offer in RFA, he's there and cost controlled next season and can always be sold for at least two seconds.

It's telling to me that the Lakers and Wiz, Magic are consistent trade partners. Seems like the only corner of the league that doesn't feel they're competing with the Lakers.

Kind of cool that Japan's biggest US sports athletes. Rui Hachimura, Shohei Ohtani and Naomi Osaka are all in Los Angeles, at least for now. Hopefully he plays well for the Lakers

Who are they going to replace him with though? Masai Ujiri's team has 1 less win and 2 more losses, which is not a glowing endorsement for a replacement.

Masai doesn't have LeBron and Anthony Davis if you seriously think Masai would EVER miss the playoffs with LeBron then lol

The third pick is a distant swap. This is a steal.

Kuzma was meh with us, his best attributes were being a decent defender who was versatile and a good rebounder

What can Rui do better than Kuzma?

Another reason why I thought a Beal trade could be a real possibility, but if they're looking to keep Kuzma long term maybe that signals they're still not going to trade Beal.

Nothing, he's a worse version of Kuzma and addresses nothing the Lakers need. "But but he's 6'8" yeah and he's an awful defender so who cares?

difference is, Bryant (whose only like a year older) has been a productive player in stretches where he was healthy going back to his soph season

he's been a very good offensive big since he was 20-21

between his injuries and lack of direction \ confidence \ coaching \ defined role - Rui hasn't been a productive NBA player

all those caveats mean there's def upside there, he can turn into one (especially with this change of scenery) but that remains to be seen

Bryant was vey productive, it was obvious to anyone who watched him he can ball when healthy
Wizards just gave up on him for no reason other than incompetence

In Rui's case I think he was developed very poorly but I can still see why they were reluctant to pay him, esepcially since he wants a lot of $$$ for his caliber of player

Rui is very green and didn't grow up playing basketball. He can learn a lot playing alongside guys like Lebron and AD.

When did the Lakers hurt you bro? When we beat you for the chip?

How is that Lowry signing treating you?

Rui is not very good and expiring. His best talent is he's 6'8".

Should help booster the Lakers bench and add depth at a position of need. They were already fairly loaded with guards. Wizards get more cracks at potential in the 2nd round. I understand it for both, but that's mostly me being down on Rui game and development.

I hope the deal goes through. The Lakers need more sucky Eastern Conference players.
