Gobert has a ton of value in terms of team building as a defensive center and you can't sell him for pennies on the dollar for what you paid--that isn't improving the team.

I agree ANT and McDaniels are longer-term assets and pieces, but most timelines I prefer to look at are 1, 2 and 3 years out.

What we paid is irrelevant, you extract the value you can get and you have a younger center on the timeline. This team needs to rebuild even if it is an admission of failure, you don't compound mistakes, you own them.

Nah team building doesnt work like that. Most GMs operate on 2-5 year timelines

I wouldn't say that as an absolute, your core you build out much further, support is more fluid and short-term.

Bold prediction: Westbrook gets bought out, then signs with tpups.

100% getting bought out, slim chance we'd want him.

Clippers, maybe Brooklyn?

Yay for Conley, I've had enough of D'Lo even if he was heating up the past few weeks. Conley fits much better and salary wise too.

Lakers running our last year's squad with D'Lo, Pat Bev, Vando and Beasley just change KAT and Ant to LeBron and Davis

Connelly doesn't stand pat on trade deadlines, those 2nds are helpful with the way he drafts. If he really does draft well, those will definitely help replacing late firsts we would've gotten if we had our picks.

He just inadvertently traded Vanderbilt and Beasley 3x times already

I am happy and thanks a lot to DLO for improving his value in the past two months, it was looking bleak at the start of the season for us.

If he improved his value why did we get nothing for him in trade?

Correct. Restocking the cupboard is a plus!

And NAW and more room under the lux.

I really liked NAW in that Culver draft. He's disappointed some but he's young, skilled and can shoot it. Conley will be a really good fit here regardless of age. We exceeded my expectations on this deal.

The winner of this trade appears to be Colin Sexton if assumptions of a Westbrook buyout are correct.

Lakers are essentially the wolves from last year swapping out kat and ant for ad and LeBron. Super weird

Excited to see if this deal let's McDaniels get more opportunities offensively. Preserve that salary slot and get a free look at a RFA while recouping a few picks.

They desperately needed shooting. They got it. And they got one of the most versatile bench defenders in the game. I think they clearly have passed us in likelihood for the playoffs. Do they knock us out of the playoffs?

The Lakers got lucky and won big in this trade. They will be vastly better. The trade works out for everybody though.

Isn't it amazing Bev, Beas, Vando, and Dlo with LeBron and Anthony Davis. I hate the Lakers.

Agreed 100%. Yes. Yeah but feels like the Gasol where GMs got a bit pantsed by LA.

Hate Lakers too but they got way better

He has the physical profile and athleticism to be a plus defender, and the advanced metrics mostly rate him as being above average. I'm really curious why a guy shooting 40% on 3s who seems like he should be a decent defender wasn't playing much in Utah.

Ummm trade skeptics kept arguing that they were EACH worth a 1st.

Umm, no. They argue Gobert aint worth ****, let alone 6 or 7 draft picks by your calculations. But now somehow you again think Wolves made a good trade with dLo because we get 3 late secound round picks, while, remember, we gave a first round to move Wiggins for dLo in the first place. Its interesting how picks value is dependent on if we give them away or acquire them.

Dlo makes some very smart plays on defense but lacks physicality

DLO is a pretty good team defender and does fine when you can hide him on the opposing teams worst perimeter player. However, he struggles with on ball defense and containment, and it becomes glaring when he has to defend athletic scoring guards.

I think the catch is that Conley isnt Conley from 10 years ago and the picks are low 2nd rounds
