Re: Where's Jrue Go?
One rumor is Jrue to Boston for RW3, Brogdon and a 2024 first.
RW3 would be good for us, but his injury history is insane. And Brogdon...why not just keep Holiday? The 1st would be late 20s...so we'd likely get a scrub if anything.

Boston has to be the favorite along with the Clippers but I'd wonder if the Pelicans would enter
the picture if Jrue asked Cronin to send him back to where he was prior to 2020.
If Boston is involved, Pels would like Rob Williams as a depth option. If Portland would entertain flipping him for a filler/pick.
As a Pels fan, I'd prefer CJ going out for Jrue to come in, so there would have to be a third team interested in CJ. Taking Herb Jones out the rotation for either player can't happen, he's the main reason Pels had a top 5 defense & is the teams defensive backbone. Other Pels fans would argue the lack of spacing replacing CJ with Jrue but I'd be for it. I think the CJ fit is clunking on both ends. All of Zion, BI & CJ are more dominant & effective with the ball in their hands & each one suffers as a result of the grouping even if numbers show an overall positive rating among the 3.

Yeah, one pick won't do it. We'd need Boston to cough up at least one more to take Brogdan's contract, IMO.

Re: Where's Jrue Go?
NY Knicks?
If they are willing to go all in...
POR out: Jrue
POR in: Fournier, Hartenstein + filler (1 of Roby, Jeffries, Sims, McBride, Washington, Brown, Arcidacano) and two 1st round picks, choice b\t
2024
WAS (1-12 prot)
DET (1-18 prot)
DAL (1-10 prot)
NY (unprotect)
2025
MIL (1-4 prot)
NY (unprotect)
2026/2027/2028/2029/2030 NY (unprotect)
I think POR would like some early draft capital and NY has a fair amount of it. Something like a 24' DAL 1st and NY 25' would be ideal I think?
Fournier is filler, but a good player, who wants minutes\out of NY and can plug right in at SF for this year and will be expiring next year
Hartenstein could be a nice b\u big man, 25 years old, also expiring
Take your pick on the filler: Roby, youngish (25) SF\PF type, or Jericho Sims (24, young big) stand out the most, but maybe there is another player worth taking a flyer on there?

No, no, no...POR would get two 1st round picks. I was just showing what picks they had available to trade.

That's more realistic, my apologies for not reading the whole post. I'd say 2 unprotected firsts further out would make the most sense, ie 28 and 30, and then a lotto protected swap option arrangement for portland in 2027 if the Blazers pick isn't deferred to Chicago instead.
I think portland ought to settle their pick with Chicago in case that 28 Milwaukie pick is good. Feels like a package of seconds could do that

NY may win some games. It may be worth it to get one from the the other teams and one from NY.

Re: Where's Jrue Go?
^That Knicks trade isn't the worst but I think we'd be hard pressed to give up multiple firsts that far out. We didn't want to for Mitchell and likely wouldn't for JRue either. Those, we save for Embiid sorts of talents. We also have a glut of guards and limited frontcourt so NYK and PDX aren't great trade partners at the moment.
Is there an embargo on the Lakers (serious question)?
I would think they have the best packages. Hachimura and change kinds of slide right in to the Blazers' needs and I think he fits the Lakers well.
Norm2953 wrote:monopoman wrote:It would be funny as **** if he went to Miami for Herro+filler and 2 picks, talk about getting the max value for Dame it would be like we traded him to both teams.
I will nominate a statue built to Cronin if this is just a taste of his GM ability.
It's more likely the Blazers would cut a deal with the Lakers than the Heat![]()
I would keep an eye on the Clippers

I don’t really see the Knicks fit either. The only thing that I can see is that there’s a previous relationship there between Portland and NY for doing deals (Hart). When teams are on good terms, they more open dialog for things to happen quicker than with teams there’s not as much of a connection with. So yeah, don’t really see the Knicks fit, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the two teams linked in rumors of “they’ve talked about Jrue”.
Re: Lakers, I think that’s a thing of the loooooooong past us oldtimers still believe. I don’t see any reason Blazers and Lakers can’t do a deal. Only issue I see with Lakers is just matching contracts. Any deal with the Lakers would have to be in like Dec right, because so many of their guys just signed contracts this summer? Agreed tho, Lakers have guys that would fit the Blazers perfectly. Hachimura, Vando (who Portland was targeting last deadline), filler would be awesome.
That said, I think (and it’s been reported) the Blazers are pretty much focused on picks primarily in any Jrue deal. I wouldn’t, but that’s what the tea-leaves are saying.
Only teams who I think are on Portland’s blocked caller list are Miami and Golden State. And honestly, even they may not be… The Miami problems might be more Aaron Goodwin than the Heat FO in all honesty. Additionally, the Golden State issue was when Bob Myers was there, but he’s gone now, so who knows.

Rui can't be traded until December to my understanding. Portland isn't going to hold onto Jrue for that long, imo.

It's interesting that this is coming from Holiday's camp...
I'm wondering if a lot of players are actively trying to avoid being in Boston.

If the Sixers are ok with a Jrue for Harden straight swap, then that deal with Clippers does make sense.
Blazers make good will with Morey (fwiw), they get pieces Sixers don’t want, Sixers stay competitive with Jrue and to help defend Lillard, Clippers get Harden.

Re: Where's Jrue Go?
Harden to Clippers
Jrue to Philly
Powell, Batum, Kenyon Martin Jr and KJ Martin (or whatever filler from Philly to make salaries work) plus 2 picks from Clippers (28 and 30).
Batum waived, Powell given the Jrue treatment and traded for second rounders and an expiring again.

What is the best deal the Blazers can get from a Clippers / Sixers three way? I don't see any decent players coming back.

I don’t think they care about players for Jrue. They’re going to target draft capital. Likely the clippers 28 and 30 FRPs. Maybe Blazers can negotiate a swap in 29 as well, but then the Clippers keep Mann.
Blazers would have to take back and flip Powell again. I would guess they just do another Powell for an expiring and 2nd rounders.

That's the problem with these other teams, they don't have picks from other teams like the Nets or Utah.

This is a hard trade to complete.
I don't think 76ers will want to give up assets to go from Harden to Holiday (not that they have many available that I'd be interested in).
The salary matching for Harden is difficult for the Clippers. I'm not exactly sure how they concemate a trade and have any value left that the Blazers would be interested in.
