I hate losing Naz but Jones makes too much sense as a long-term answer at PG.

I loved Tyus on draft day. He's a slightly above average player. He is what he is. I don't see him as a difference maker for our team. I thought he'd be better. He is a solid player though.

I love Mike Conley. He's perfect for this team. I think we can get 2-3 more years from him of strong ball.

Yeah, I agree with that sentiment, though, I'd like to see what we have in Shake and Nix until February in case we might have the long term answer already on the roster. I also think Conley may have 2-3 decent years left and he might be willing to take a big pay cut to stay in the league just to try and win a title here. If not, then I think Monte Morris is a good candidate to sign as a free agent as he is unrestricted this offseason. We could also trade for Morris if that facilitates getting him here better by offloading Wendell Moore, JMAC and Troy Brown and a second. As far as trades go, I like Killian Hayes for his defense and passing, if the cost is minimal and I think he might have good upside if he can improve his offensive game a bit. I like Suggs for the same reason as Hayes, he's already good defensively but he needs to improve his shooting. On the other hand, Cole Anthony is very good offensively but is weak defensively. Its up to TC to figure out which of them is more likely to develop into a two way player and fit the needs of the team best. Since KAT and Ant are Alpha scorers and I'd like to see Jaden get more touches, I'm more in favor of defense. I'd add that if either of the Jones boys were attainable (Tre or Tyus), I'd be interested as they are both very good at running an offense with minimal turnovers, and despite their physical limitations, they play hard on defense with well above BB IQ.

Quick thought exercise: Why are people so critical of Naz Reid for his lack of rebounding, but don't have the same criticism of Kyle Anderson?

It looks like our defensive minded identity is starting to grow. I truly believe that guys like Casson Wallace and Andrew Nembhard would look great in MIN uniform as big, defensive minded guards, who can shoot. Here is one trade idea:

IND IN: Moore, Hart, Fournier, FRP
IND OUT: Nembhard, Theis, Hield

Why for IND: Nembhard is a young PG, behind Hali. They replace him with veteran Hart and get additional FRP

NYK IN: Towns
NYK OUT: Hart, Fournier, five FRPs

Why for NYK: get Towns who's hometown is NY

MIN IN: Nembhard, Hield, Theis, four FRPs
MIN OUT: Towns, Moore

Why for MIN: get future starting PG, get FRPs as trade assets, get expiring contracts in order to keep Conley and Anderson later.

Gobert/Reid/Garza
Anderson/Theis/Minott +Miller
MCD/Brown/Hield
Edwards/NAW/Milton
Conley/Nembhard/McLaughlin

I like something more definitive if we trade Towns because we are in win now mode. So no, unless you can turn the 4 picks into Borgdon.

Brogdon is an injury prone comboguard with only one full year left in contract. I dont want any temporary workarounds at PG

It sounds like McLaughlin is out for a while (he will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks). I'll be curious to see if the team tries to add another bench PG. Even though McLaughlin was largely out of the rotation, he was still a guy Finch could bring in to run the offense and push the pace. There are going to be games where we will really need someone with his skill set, especially if Conley misses any games.

With McLaughlin out a while I'd see if the Jazz would do a Wendell Moore for Kris Dunn swap. Dunn has been largely out of the rotation and I'm guessing Utah wants to give the bench PG minutes to Sexton and George. Dunn's defense would fit well, and he would probably be a better PG option than NAW or Nix (and maybe even Milton who is looking more like a SG at this point).

Please don't use the name Kris Dunn here. :) I'm trying to forget we could have had Jamal Murray but took Dunn instead. Another idiotic move by this franchise.

You're forgetting the guy who is really our backup PG...

I see Anderson as a very deliberate playmaker who is really good around the free throw line. My biggest concern is that things slow way down when he is the PG. I think we also need more of a true PG who can push the pace, initiate the offense, and keep the ball moving quickly. Conley fills that role, but without McLaughlin there is nobody else who plays with that style among the possible PG options.

CHA IN: Moore, Bertans, Dort
CHA OUT: Hayward

Why for CHA: trade expiring Hayward for some assets

OKC IN: Towns
OKC OUT: Bertans, Dort, Wallace five FRPs

Why for OKC : get Towns, pair Karl with Chet

MIN IN: Wallace, Hayward, five FRPs
MIN OUT: Towns, Moore

Why for MIN: get future starting PG, get FRPs as trade assets, get expiring contracts in order to keep Conley and Anderson later.

Dunn can't return to the Wolves because he has a warrant issued by the State of MN for "failure to appear". We don't have the trade assets we'd be willing to part with but George would be an incredible addition for many reasons. PGOF and instant offense from the bench...yes, please.

Moore should be just fine for that. He may be better than Little Mac.

Just let him stay in jail for a few days. :D Dunn had some decent minutes with Jazz last year. I think he is a good option as the backup or backup of the backup
