The guy has won two dunk contests in a row. I think if GM's thought he was a real NBA player, even a bench warmer, he'd be on a roster. There are a hundreds guys not in the NBA who can dunk a basketball very impressively and put up solid stats in a non-NBA league. There are not enough roster spots available for all of them.
Teams are going to hold on to their own drafted players for as long as possible, even if they are destined to fail. UDFA's have a harder time sticking around.

The players getting cut were mistakes. Why would you fill that spot with someone who doesn’t project to do well and at best, may be marginally better than the mistake. There has to be some need that Mac fills or projects to fill. Sadly, he doesn’t have nba level talent.
