Yeah, just too good and fits well with Bron to pass up. A gifted catch and shoot scorer is his floor. Ceiling is Klay or Hero but more athletic. 39” vertical and his defense improved going from NColorado to SEC’s Vols.
SEC has defense called for doubling and preventing Mr Roadhouse from isolating.
If Dalton’s D improves slightly to average, then we hit the steal of the draft. A catch and shoot scorer that we really needed.
Imagine: AR/Max/Knecht/Bron/AD lineup.
You can surround Bron and AD with pure shooters!

Are all players I'd prioritize with the 17th pick assuming we don't trade it. A couple of those are slotted to go before the 17th and a couple are slotted to go after but for the most part they're roughly in our mock range. These are all older upperclassman prospects who in theory should be able to contribute in some capacity to the parent roster by each providing a much needed skillset that our current depth lacks. I'll be excited if we nab one of them on Wednesday.
Would be happy with that group at #17 altho prefer Holmes.
At #55, would love Bronny. Wouldn’t mind buying picks to draft Bronny in the early 40s, to be safe.
Then buy 1-2 more picks to get longer and better.
I know this year’s draft is somewhat weak but it has a lot of good 13-45 range players that can be good 3&D role players that Lakers need. Possibly Last year to buy picks, so let’s use our $7m warchest.
Agreed. Also happy Knecht fell to 17! Another upperclassman with above average measurables who I didn't even consider would be in our range. I tend to be a bit higher on Bronny than most and think he has a legitimate shot at developing into a quality role-player a few years down the road so I'll happy with him at 55 and would understand if they move up a few spots to grab him. Lakers have had a recent history of buying 2nds and it's not my money so sure let's do it again haha

Yeah, but sounds like we don't improve defensively. Something just about everyone around here has been screaming about. Personally the guy sounds fine. Sounds like he can be a decent piece. I'm not over the moon about it....but it's not horrible. We'll have to see how he does in the NBA.
He is athletic so we will see. 6’6 and 6’9” wingspan are good esp since he is one of the most gifted scorers this year. We finally get a shooter that can attack the rim too.
The biggest knock on him was the age and some worry about defense. See comps like Hero, Korver or Thompson but more athletic as a late 6 inch in college bloomer.
He looks quicker than the comp and don’t think he is a Dlo on D esp at 6’6”. This prob ends Dlo tenure in LA.
Guards:
AR/Gabe/Bronny
Max/Knecht
? Dinwiddie
If you replace Dlo with Knecht and Max, that’s a huge upgrade on defense.
Asking for a friend, what’s the difference between thie guy and Svi Mykhailluk? both shot great from college, both over 21 years old. Svi is actually listed 6-8 and now finding a hard time playing regular minutes. But hey, he has the same number of rings as Anthony Davis lol

knecht could struggle in NBA. But Knecht is longer limbs, quicker and jumps higher. He also is a dawg after dealing as underdog for all his life yet took on the leadership role for Vols.
Svi was just a shooter with TRex arms.

Agreed. Knecht is a bit shorter (1.25 inches shorter) but he has the more prototypical athletic body frame conducive to playing well in the NBA with a longer wingspan 6'9" compared to Svi's negative 2 inch wingspan (6'4.75" inch), broader shoulders, better lane agility, better standing vert/max vert, leaner muscle/less body fat (similar frame to Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Hawks) and that stuff is cool on paper but it more importantly appeared to translate better in their college games.
While both were elite college shooters, Knecht was able to do so as the clear cut #1 option on the Tennessee Elite Eight team while Svi peaked as the #2 option and sometimes #3 option on Kansas. Knecht also wasn't just limited to being a spot up shooter but he was good at cutting, pull up shooting, mid-range and just more physical driving with force as evident with his nearly 6 free throw attempts vs Svi's 1.5 attempts per game and showed flashes of being a better rebounder. They had contrasting play-style demeanors as well with Svi tending to be a bit more passive while Knecht had a more aggressive drive and motor to him like LakersSoul mentioned.

What do you mean?
It’s great for the Lakers and NBA league to have father and son duo. It’s a “thank you Bron” and Lakers pickup a gritty 3&D backup guard like Payton Jr but with a better jump shot.

Well in a complete vacuum, I think 4-5 years from now we'll all be talking about how crazy it was that we got this guy at #55. I think he's the complete package: Athletic. Smart. Plays D. Good shooter. He won't be his dad...but I can see him being an allstar (except actually deserves it) down the road. It'd be nice if he were a couple inches taller...not gonna lie. Heart (literally) is the big question. And he's pretty raw. I think they'd be good to put him in the D-League for a year, but that ain't happening so oh well.
But what this means for the franchise here and now???? Disaster! This sucks. We're retreading this crap team for another go-'round. Wonder how long before I start hearing people bitching about our coach? Kiss all those beautiful picks we coulda had goodbye.

Well the only second rounder I wanted close to where we picked was Cam Christie but he wasn’t available so I’m whatever about it. Circus gonna circus.

I mean look....worst case, we whiffed on #55 pick. Oh well.
Goto espn/Nba.....literally every video is Bronny, Bronny, Bronny. This is why the Lakers did it. Our FO is stupid, but you already know that. Only this time, I think they dumb-lucked their way into a really good player down the road. Especially if he ends up a few inches taller, all said/done.

Could of easily went undrafted and still come to the Lakers, but Lebron wanted him to have the spotlight, he gonna get the spotlight regardless. Oh that's enough for me on the topic already over It.

It's the cornball move of all cornball moves... But now I'm virtually forced to root for Bronny or be faced with agreeing with all the Laker haters that are having a field day with this...
I'll do it, but I'll despise the FO for every minute of it...

If he turns into something decent (which I think he will) those same guys laughing will be crying conspiracy and sulking that the NBA gives the Lakers anything they want. Look forward to it. Had they done this with #17....ok, that woulda been ridiculous. I got no problem with #55. He's got some hills to face, but I think he's got alot going for him. I know why the FO did this, and that part I can't stand. So I get it.
But underneath it all.....I think we got two steals this draft.

Drafting his kid while no one else would. Somewhere there is a player who deserved to get drafted and didn't. A "Thank You" move?! Really?! What's next? Signing him for $10M/year.

This forces dad to lead by on-court example and commitment to team. One can’t BS one’s way (in this case most pressingly defensive discipline) with your own kids. They do what you do, not what you say. It’ll force LBJ to take a real honest look in the mirror. I think it will invigorate him.
Plus, nobody else at #55 would have made a difference anyway.

Bronny, like Lonzo before him seems to approach the game the right way and not a hint of arrogance despite the floodlights shining on them. I think he’ll be a good teammate and fan favorite.

Picking him at 55 was good (that part of the draft is a complete crapshoot).
