JayTWill wrote:Another solid game from Kolek. Good floor game as usual but we also saw him knock down a three this game, get to the rim and he even had to deal with a full court press on many occasions. If he can perfect the Brunson foul hunting when he gets into the paint we might have something.

It was also nice to see Shamet knock down some shots. Hopefully he can get into a groove because his shooting is desperately needed especially from the bench.

I like how physical he was. He legit knows how to keep his handle going while backing down a defender. He had that one play where he banged several times to hold his position then threw right over the defender to OG at the rim for an easy bucket.

If Thibs actually cares about team metrics he'll start Kolek next game.

Who am I kidding?

I am so tired of Thibs. He is the most stubborn coach I have ever seen. Wright had a better looking stat line but, Tyler played a better game IMO. Thibs going vet almost cost the lead in another game after we lost the last one doing the same exact thing. You can't make this stuff up. Kolek needs to play more.

Remember when it was said the team quit on the coach when they had a brutal travel schedule and didn’t look like themselves?

Yeah good times

Anyways, OG is awesome

Why does KAT catch the ball 30 feet from the rim and iso his man so often in games?

Is this just now that Brunson is gone? How is that good offense? I guess he's such a good shooter that the threat from 3 opens up the drive, but there's gotta be a better way to set him up to score.

This is how he was playing WITH Brunson. It's Thibs letting the players freelance. Left to his own devices KAT either pops from deep or galomphs his way to the rim. A properly coached team would be setting up KAT for more threes because he's such a good shooter or hitting him on the PnR rather than having to take it inside all by himself.

Didn't watch. Looks like Kolek getting the Grimes treatment from the boxscore. Sounds about right from this idiotic coach.

Glad we got the W though.

in only 17 mins is a thibs special

but the offense was running smoothly with him in. Wright had some good momentus early but he is really not a PG/shot creator. He doesn't turn it over and can initiate some offense but in terms of breaking down the defense and decision making Wright isn't there.

He helps with defense though.

Well we have a lot of guys in the starting lineup who can initiate offense so we really just needed a bus driver but Delon decided to come in and set the tone and get buckets anyway. Pretty good game

I'm not saying I have an issue with him starting. I don't mind more "defensive" focus early and the ball with be in Mikal's and some others hands early.

But Mikal was going through a stretch a lot of his shots were short in that 3rd qtr when MIL cut it to 4...he should have went to Kolek much earlier in that situation when we were struggling to score. Kolek ended up coming in start of the 4th and doing his thing. Just a little let to adjust per usual from thomas.

MIL really is a team that we matchup well. One of the few teams we have the coaching edge and there star player is no threat to beat us from the outside which plays well for our defensive scheme.

One of the biggest differences tonight was the energy from Mitch. This was the energy they will need from mitch in the 15-20 minutes he plays come playoff time, not the disaster against the clips

Good games from Wright and Kolek at pg to get the win against a playoff team while Brunson is out.

We don't use our bigs to set screens for whatever reason, it's why you almost never see KAT get any threes off a pick. The offense is extremely crude, with or without Brunson. The only difference with Brunson is that we have an elite shot creator so it works better, but it's still the same basic thing.

kolek really gets the rookie treatment from the refs. he was getting hounded and fouled and not sure he even drew a single foul the entire game. that one play where he drove and tried a layup but got blocked he was clearly held down on his shoulder as he tried to shoot.

I just noticed Hart played 42 minutes and Precious played 6 minutes. Is Precious just $6M injury insurance? They couldn't get anything useful for him at the deadline since we basically knew he would be out of the rotation when Mitch came back? I guess not

He’ll get to play more minutes once Thibs runs another starter into the ground, don’t worry

I hope someone makes Kolek study TJ McConnell and how that little bastard is always in the paint scoring despite being 6'1".
