39 points 7 assists 11 rebounds 50% field, 91% FT, and 62.5% from 3 on 8 attempts. 1 block 2 steals .. Um… yeah. He’s overated.

Re: Sengun's Ceiling Next Season
A better shooting version of Pau.
What's crazy is that 7-8 years ago people were talking about the death of the center and now we are entering a new golden age of big men that we havn't seen since the 90s and 2000s...
Jokic, Wemby, Embiid, Sengun, KAT, AD, Bam, Mobley, Sabonis, Wagner, Rudy, Porzingis, Zubac etc...just a ton of high level depth at the position.

He doesn't have Pau's length and is shorter. Not going to block as many shots. Doesn't mean he's a worse paint & rim protector, though. He is, however, a better rebounder and ball handler.

It's true though. For awhile the game was dominated by small ball, wings and guards.
But this new era of big men that has been shepparded in probably since 2020 has been amazing. We so many unicorns that we stopped using the moniker.

There is a huge opportunity for a significant upgrade defensively with a traditional center.
Advanced metrics say otherwise. For a guy defending from a lot of spots, he's pretty good. Just because he is not Wemby or Holmgren does not mean he's not good.

There is tremendous upside defensively with a different type of Center.
Sengun hustles, but he offers basically no rim deterrence whatsoever.

Re: Sengun's Ceiling Next Season
Senguns go to offensive weapon is a face up off the dribble attack from the top of the key that usually involves a couple of crossovers and a spin.
His footwork really isn’t too clever most of the time, he relies a lot on power to get position.
Very different than Pau or Scolas game IMO.
I think someone like DeMarcus Cousins, specifically when he went to the Pelicans and started passing and being more creative offensively is a much more similar offensive style.

To get to the ~superstar territory, he has to improve as a scorer though. I don't see any shooting growth during Eurobasket and he wouldn't be so overpowering as a player against the NBA competition. Hard to tell how much he can improve as a scorer: he's a ~solid defender, amazing playmaker and great offensive rebounder for his position, he's not a decent shooter nor off-ball scorer yet.
I don't think KD is 1A offensive option at this stage of his career though, so he'll be helpful for the Rockets, but will he be revolutionary for them? I don't think so.
last year he was 1 attempts pergame on 3pt shots
last night he took 8 3's and made 5. not that he'll do that every game but maybe,,,,, it's there
